Recently, PB students got the chance to witness the drum ‘n’ bass legend doing his thing in the studio. Point Blank make sure their students have access to the best facilities with the latest music production equipment, expert instructors who’ve worked with everyone from Bob Marley to Kanye West and incredible industry opportunities and discounts, and they also make sure their students get real-life experience in the music and recording industry.
That’s why they teamed up with Goldie – d’n’b legend and friend of PB – to give their students a chance to help record drums for an upcoming project. The result was an inspiring and insightful session with Goldie recording three drummers simultaneously at Assault and Battery studios in North-West London.
As usual there were some choice moments from Goldie, remarking: “When you think about Point Blank now, 20 years ago a school like that would never exist – and that is a really strong thing.” Course instructor Anthony Chapman echoed Goldie’s sentiments: “Back then, the technology wouldn’t have been capable of doing what we’re doing today. Now I can export all the stems tonight and the production team can get to work straight away.”
You can watch the result below and make sure you subscribe to Point Blank’s YouTube channel for more tutorials and live events.
If you want to learn recording techniques like the ones in this video and get the chance to work with huge electronic music artists and producers, Point Blank’s Music Production and Sound Engineering Master Diploma teaches you everything you need to know, including a special Sound Engineering module.
