Joris Voorn mixes fabric 83
Joris Voorn has mixed fabric 83.
Due out August 21st, Voorn’s mix comprises 65 tracks, with as many as five tracks playing at any given time. In addition to his own tunes, he’s drawn on music from the likes of Plastikman,Robert Hood, Speedy J, Howling and Deepchord. “The creative freedom I have when working in Ableton allows me to edit, mix and remix tracks in ways you can’t do with turntables or CD players,” he says. “Tracks are often used as building blocks in the form of loops and samples in order to create something completely new. Tracks are usually stripped down or minimal-sounding to allow for layering and mixing with other tracks. The result is a mix that is more than the sum of its parts.”
The launch party for fabric 83 will take place at fabric on Saturday, August 22nd, with Voorn joined by Craig Richards, Sebastian Mullaert and Mosca. Tickets are available on RA.

Hear a Track from the New Hunter/Game EP
For their latest outing on Sasha’s Last Night on Earth imprint, Hunter/Game craft a sublime free-fall excursion into the heady realms of melodic techno.
The outstanding three-tracker leads with “Utopia,” a hypnotizing, multi-layered gem that lives up to its heavenly title with a persistent groove that works its way towards an exciting horn-laden climax. Up next is “Dystopia,” a dark melodic trip produced in collaboration with Pisetzky – a member of the duo’s Just This collective and shortly due to release his debut EP on their label of the same name. Rounding out the EP is the beautiful ambient offering “Paradigm,” reinforcing the breadth of Hunter/Game’s sonic palette.
The release continues Hunter/Game’s stellar 2015, a year that already includes an outstanding Spreicher 83 EP on Kompakt, with lead track “Hexagon” being one of the most charted tracks in February. In April they released their maiden EP on new label Just This, so named after their scene-shaping parties of the same name that have defined the Milan club scene since they begun in 2010.
Ahead of the EP’s July 17 release, lead track “Utopia” can be streamed in full above.

Alina Baraz Lends Her Vocals To Ta-Ku’s “Down For You”
Alina Baraz & Galimatias, debuted their collaborative 8-track EP ‘Urban Flora‘ almost two months ago. The record debuted #1 on iTunes Electronic and has remained in the top five ever since. It’s also charting on Billboard Top Electronic / Dance Albums, peaking at #4 weeks after its release.
The two albums are part of an overall musical narrative, which “Down For You” embodies with its connection to both records.
Nils Frahm steps up for LateNightTales
Nils Frahm has overseen the next edition of the LateNightTalescompilation series.
Frahm’s selections vary from classic jazz and soul (Miles Davis, Nina Simone) to classical to contemporary electronic music from the likes of Four Tet, Boards Of Canada and Bibio. A couple of his own exclusive compositions feature, including his cover version of John Cage’s “4’33.” (“I sat at the piano in silence and worked from there,” he says. “I listened and took in the atmosphere and this is what came out of it.”)
“I’ve really got off on working on compilations lately,” says Frahm. “It’s such a wonderful way to delve deep into your music collection. My flat is now crammed with music media of all stripes, from an old hand-cranked 78 phonograph player to 45s and albums on vinyl, my beloved old cassette tape collection, even mini-disks and, lately, WAV and MP3s. It’s all music to me. After spending hours recording from all of these diverse sources, I started to play around with the tunes, layering them, sampling, looping certain parts, extracting phrases and using all the freedom that this allowed me.”
He adds: “If I got a little carried away or stepped on anyone’s toes in my quest to do something interesting and original, then I apologise. Some things may have accidentally landed on the wrong speed, while other spooky happenings occurred along the way, whether it’s ghostly additions of reverb and delay or simply subtle edits or reproductions, they’ve all gone into the magical stew I’ve tried to create for your pleasure and edification. I can’t tell you how much fun I’ve had creating this compilation for you but, suffice to say, I hope it will be a nice journey for your mind and heart.”
The compilation will be available on double-vinyl, CD and digital formats.
