They've toured the world, made a TV special, bought and sold a church, and opened a Montreal restaurant — and in September, Arcade Fire is venturing into the film world with their first-ever feature.
Directed by award-winning director Kahlil Joseph, The Reflektor Tapes melds documentary, music, art and personal history as it charts the making of the album Reflektor, from its earliest foundations in Jamaica to recording sessions in Montreal to an impromptu gig at a Haitian hotel and packed stadiums in London and Los Angeles.
The audience will also relive moments from the Reflektor tour, in high-def and surround sound, and experience candid behind-the-scenes moments with the band members.
“There were parts of the Reflektor tour where I think we, Arcade Fire, came the closest in our careers to putting on stage what we imagined in our heads," says the press release. "We were insanely lucky to have Kahlil Joseph documenting from the very beginning.”
The film will also feature a new Arcade Fire track.
