Tru Thoughts presents Unfold 30.06.13

Tru Thoughts presents Unfold 30.06.13

A soulful start to the show with new single from 21 year old Tru Thoughts signing Harleighblu, Charles Bradley and a little Darondo (R.I.P) tribute with a classic track from him, his collaboration with Alice Russell and a tune from Kinny which samples him (all samples cleared!). On the dancefloor tip there are tracks from Titeknots, Kode 9, Branchez and Spatial. Some Reggae / Dancehall from Stylo G, Congo Natty, Sean Paul, Terror Fabulous. Dom D&B from DC Breaks remixing Hidden Orchestra, Calibre remixing Spectra Soul and Level 2. Plus that great mellow version of Kendrick Lemar’s BDKMV. Plus Hip Hop from London Posse, RA The Rugged Man, Mos Def and Breis.

Solid Steel Radio Show 28/6/2013 Part 3 + 4 - DJ Food

Solid Steel Radio Show 28/6/2013 Part 3 + 4 - DJ Food

For the second hour this week DJ Food presents a version of his set from the Boards of Canada-inspired night he played recently, 'A Few Old Tunes'. The playlist for the night took its cues from the Scottish duo's music and expanded both ways, to the music and TV that had inspired them to those who had been inspired in return.

From the past we find Sesame Street, Galt MacDermont, Delia Derbyshire and John Abercrombie, from the present: The Books, Mordy Laye, Lost Idol and Two Quiet Suns. In addition to the audio mix, Kev presents his first solo AV mix - 'O Is For Orange'. Visually inspired by the weathered found footage cine film and public information films of yesteryear and featuring numerous unofficial Boards of Canada fan films that have sprung up on YouTube over the years.

Solid Steel Radio Show 28/6/2013 Part 1 + 2 - Congo Natty

Solid Steel (28th June) It's a massive welcome this week to Congo Natty, a well respected and legendary figure in British music who had his first release as Rebel MC in 1988, the same year Solid Steel started. Chart success followed alongside Double Trouble, but he's probably most respected as one of the pioneers of Jungle. His music has always been a firm fixture on Solid Steel, evident in the 1991 Kiss recording we had back in January. Will Ashon from Big Dada talks to him about his extensive career, his new album 'Jungle Revolution' and we get to hear a few classic records that have influenced him over the years. That is followed by a 'Congo Natty live 95' recording that features Ragga Twins, Navigator, MC Dett and DJ SL.
