The first single from Music Complete is a semi-acoustic, semi-electronic tune that glides through both euphoria and melancholy. Do you agree?
Given New Order’s latest resurrection has been littered with unexpected additions – with Brandon Flowers, Iggy Pop and Elly Jackson on vocals and the Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands and Stuart Price producing some of the tracks – you’d be fooled into assuming Music Complete was a product of creative excess.
According to its leading single, however, the Manchester group need not for frills and fanfare. Restless, a semi-acoustic, semi-electronic tune that glides through both euphoria and melancholy, witheringly assesses the desire for more stuff, more money and “a nice car, a girlfriend who’s as pretty as a star”.
