The jazz-infused single is all about liberation — but in the just-released video for his new single "Freedom," Pharrell Williams explores many of the places where freedom is stifled.
Slave camps, sweatshops, and oppressive regimes are the focus of the video, which recreates many of the most iconic photographs and videos of the past century, from famed National Geographic photos to viral YouTube clips.
At the other end of spectrum there are images of freedom, from horses stampeding to plants opening to birds soaring — as well as stunning images of Earth from space.
The video was directed by Paul Hunter, who has worked with music stars from Snoop Dogg to Britney Spears, and from Michael Jackson to Marilyn Manson.
