Grant Phabao, The Lone Ranger & Carlton Livingston - Imitation Sounds (Digital Single, Paris DJs, 2013) One of Paris DJs' Boom Bam secret weapons, with the two rhymesters killing it with style and fashion, over a thick and layered reggae riddim from multi-intrumentalist Grant Phabao. Harleighblu - Forget Me Not (CD, Tru-Thoughts, 2013) An amazing 21-year-old singer from Nottingham singing some tender and/or banging 21st century Soul! harleighblu | bandcamp | etchshop | juno 08. Mukat Edits - Afro Disco Boogie Edits Vol.3 (12", Mukat Edits, 2013) Starting with a bumpin disco number full of funky claps & guitar, slapping bass and an anthemic chorus 'Everybody get up, and dance, it's a brand new thing', this is floorfiller material for sure. parisdjs | juno 09. Nik Weston Presents Colombian Funk and Latin Gems (7", Mukatsuku, 2013) A very cool tropical dub edit from Blundetto from a 1975 monster dancefloor track from Wganda Kenya, backed by a terrific piece of Colombian Salsa from Fruko Y Sus Tesos! parisdjs | juno 10. Q.A.S.B. - II (LP, Soul Garden 2013) Following up on their Babe Ruth cover 'The Mexican' released on 7 inch last year, Tokyo funk outfit Q.A.S.B. are back with a second LP filled with groovy JB funk and early's 70s soul-jazz offerings. The Grits - Make A Sound (Like James Brown) (Grant Phabao Remix) (Digital Single, Paris DJs, 2013) A piece of hard-striking funk from The Grits remixed into a skanking reggae tune by Grant Phabao aiming for the James Scratch Perry Brown sound in full force! parisdjs | bandcamp | juno 12. The Poets Of Rhythm - Anthology (Digital compilation, Daptone, 2013) The godfathers of deep funk truly are The Poets Of Rhythm and the whole thing restarted in Europe in the early 90s. Thundercat - Apocalypse (CD/2LP, Brainfeeder, 2013) L.A.'s beat scene of futurized funk summed up in one double LP co-written and co-produced by Flying Lotus.
