Budding London via Leeds duo, Wayward , really struck a chord with me this morning with their new single, “Love Jones,” due out on Aesop in early December. Utilizing legendary Motown artist and Temptations co-founder, Eddie Kendricks’, velvety falsetto vocal sample from the 70s jam, “Keep On Truckin’,” Wayward create an emotional, lovelorn House tune equipped with piano melodies that really tug on the heartstrings. While using a timeless Motown vocal sample can, in many cases, be used as a crutch, Wayward complement Kendricks in a classy, beautiful way in “Love Jones.” Absolutely check this one out. √+
