Holden Girls are a Cambridgeshire quintet who, after a few line up changes, have settled on Connor Browne, Luke Cowan, Owen Kennedy, Alex Brown and George Fletcher. Their oldest member not yet 16, since the addition of Alex and George the group has assumed a tighter and more textured live sound. Moments of dreaminess and noisier, intense sounds define their set. Their distinctive sound draws on anything from Low to Mogwai, Talk Talk and Cocteau Twins, with Browne's vocals compared to Ian Curtis' deep croon. Slate The Disco describe them as ”a complex mix of ambient, dream pop and shoegaze". |

Artist: Gavin James Release: Remember Me Label: Believe Recordings Genre: Pop – Singer Songwriter Recorded in London's Metropolis Studios with producer Tom Nichols, the uplifting title track 'Remember Me' off his debut EP is the perfect introduction to the 21 year-old Dubliner's sublime voice and gift for a timeless melody. Despite his tender years Gavin is already a veteran of Dublin's thriving singer-songwriter circuit, having spent the past three years establishing himself as one of Ireland's most exciting up-and-coming talents. Last years' debut EP 'Say Hello' (an Irish only release) entered the Irish iTunes album charts at No.1, after which he coolly went on to pick up the Choice Meteor Award earlier this year (the Irish Mercury Prize) for Song Of The Year with the title track. Artist: Mala Release: Como Como (Theo Parrish Remix) Label: Brownswood Recordings Genre: Dance – Beats & Breaks / Electronica
Cult Motor City producer Theo Parrish (Sound Signature / 3 Chairs) maintains the languorous, dreamy vibe of Mala’s original but opens out the groove, allowing the South Londoner’s warm sub-bass to flex its muscle. The bass weight is tempered by deep, mantric keys; the soft choral vocals of Sexto Sentido; and Dreiser’s spiritual incantations. 2012′s ‘Mala In Cuba’ saw the Mala head out to La Isla Grande for an album’s worth of dubstep-meets-salsa hybrids. The project’s since become one of Mala’s most successful endeavours to date, garnering praise from unexpected quarters and spawning a host of live dates across the globe.
In a small village at the foot of Mount Etna in Sicily, Dario Blatta and Ignazio Inesha have spent the last twelve months locked away, utterly devoted to their magnus opus: Surface Tension. As if channeling the volcanic heat directly into their productions, this stunning debut is Blatta & Inesha’s love letter to techno. It’s a life-long love affair that has become an obsession for theses two extraordinarily talented Italian producers. The progeny of this addiction is their first LP and they have achieved a remarkable feat; crafting a dance record which is as captivating on your headphones as it is hypnotic on the dancefloor.
