Some of you may not know this, but back in the 1990s, Canada was one of the biggest markets for Eurodance outside of Europe. We even had our own thriving Canadian Eurodance — or Candance — scene. Two of the biggest vehicles for the distribution of Candance were MuchMusic's weekly dance party Electric Circus, and its Francophone cousin, MusiquePlus' Bouge de là. We in English Canada are pretty familiar with the glory that was Electric Circus, but Bouge de là was something you only saw on trips to Montreal, and was kind of like going through the looking glass. It looked like Electric Circus, but with different dancers, a different Monika Deol and we couldn't understand what they were saying.
Anyway, here are some classic Candance performances from legends of the genre like Nadia, Emjay, JLM and Capital Sound, all introduced by the first black Miss Canada and current data mining expert, Juliette Powell.
