'Move' is released digitally today and is the third single from Zara McFarlane's highly acclaimed second album 'If You Knew Her'.

Her instantly recognisable voice is truly on show as her vocal acrobatics stretch across both her melodies and her accomplished improvisations, accompanied by a sparse groove rife with tension and release. Zara weaves a tale of finding strength at a moment of uncertainty on which coasts over both Afro-Carribbean rhythms and a solid swing.

The B-side is another track from the album, 'You'll Get Me In Trouble'. A playful take on temptation – completely captivating yet deceptively simple. the delivery is heartfelt – it is no
surprise it went down such a storm on her recent Jools Holland performance.
To complete the summery package a suitably deep remix from Atjazz with full toned subs and a laid back beat sure to make even the most stubborn of heads start to nod. Atjazz brings something new to the table, serving up 8-bit flavours to compliment the jazzy concoction.

BAM BAM BAM: THE STORY OF SONZEIRA // LONDON FILM SCREENING // 18TH JULY – SOLD OUT
Posted: 14 Jul 2014 06:19 AM PDT

We are excited to announce the cinematic premiere of Gilles Peterson’s documentary “Bam Bam Bam: The Story of Sonzeira” at the Hackney Picturehouse, London. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Gilles hosted by Caspar Llewellyn-Smith from The Guardian.

In keeping with the spirit of this unique and daring album , BOSH – the award-winning in-house production arm of ad agency, Mother London – captured Gilles’ trip on film.

Their resident director and Brazilophile Charlie Inman, teamed up with resident Rio De Janiero film director Ben Holman, of Beija films, to co-direct and cover every element of Gilles’ trip. It was a wild journey deep into the favelas, through the world of Samba, and even introducing Gilles to some of the new emerging talent in Brazilian music.

Creating a colourful itinerary of people, places and events that passionately represents the real side of Brazilian culture and music: beyond the typical Football and Copacabana clichés. The result, “Bam Bam Bam: The Story of Sonzeira”, a film that shows both the music and the cultural journey that Gilles took during his time in Rio de Janeiro.
Tickets are no longer available, but keep your eyes peeled for future screenings across London and the UK. Make sure to sign up to our mailing list for updates.

ALSO – look out for a small restock of the limited edition 4-piece vinyl boxset coming to Brownswood Bandcamp soon!
