World Circuit Sampler

World Circuit Records are one of Amazon UK’s Labels Of The Month. Featured as part of their monthly Label Spotlight, Amazon UK are also giving away a free 16-track Sampler, featuring music from Buena Vista Social Club, Ry Cooder, Ali Farka Touré and more.

“World Circuit Records began life in London in the mid-80s with a focus on Cuban and West African artist-led releases, amongst other world music styles, and by 1993 had already claimed its first Grammy Award-winning LP with Ali Farka Touré and Ry Cooder’s Talking Timbuktu. In 1997, the label released another Ry Cooder project, the phenomenal Buena Vista Social Club, to a global applause which saw the Cuban band sell millions of records. Another Grammy Award came in 2005 for Ali Farka Toure and Toumani Diabate and further nominations in 2006 and 2011 continue to demonstrate that the meticulous quality of the output of World Circuit Records remains as high today as when the label began.”

Visit the Label Spotlight page on Amazon UK to see a selection of reduced priced albums from World Circuit, and find the 16-track free Sampler here.

Flume

Artist: Flume
Release: Flume: Deluxe Edition
Label: Future Classic
Release Date: November 2013
Picked by: Natalie Graham – Office Manager

I'm always stunned when such young talent makes an impact; in this case Flume, otherwise known as Harley Streten, manages to combine a mixture of R&B sounds, smooth lyrical vocals and put them against a dance backdrop. It really is a breath of fresh air and his recent deluxe album offers a series of new tracks, as well as fresh takes on the original versions.  - Natalie Graham
