Baja-born, Barcelona-based deep house hero Louie Fresco has been dedicated, diligently working hard, and perfecting his musical craft for years. Recently, the MEXA label honcho unveiled the fruits of all that blood, sweat, and studio tears — his Autophobia album on No. 19 featuring catchy standout singles like "White Sugar" and "So Good." Beatport News was fortunate enough to catch up with this hard-working DJ producer in the Catalan capital where we chatted about his early life in Mexicali, "remixing" Hot Creations' Lee Foss, his upcoming whirlwind tour, and so much more.

2 beams were seen over the famous Es Vedrà rock tonight in Ibiza forming a shape that can only mean one thing! Axwell /\ Ingrosso are returning with their Departures concept to Ushuaia Beach Hotel! The artists who have announced headlining stages at Governors Ball alongside the likes of Jack White and James Blake on June 8, Bråvalla Festival in Sweden with Kanye West on June 28 and V Festival with Justin Timberlake on Aug 16th and 17th have been pretty tight lipped about what these joint shows are all about, but it seems we are about to start finding out. More news is promised tomorrow at 10AM CET.

 Bjorn Akesson came to us through a artist submission and we are glad he did. His music is elevating and definitely gets your adrenaline pumping. his style is mainly trance but he throws in a lot of other genres of music which makes his sets interesting and upbeat. He belnds all these different styles graciously and always keeps a smooth groove going. Listen up! Bjorn is an amazing artist, your gonna love this.

 In today’s popular music in the dance scene, it seems that all the music is starting to sound the same in the eyes of a lot of people. Many DJs have spoken out about this, and now, you can add trance DJ tyDi to the list of people. tyDi earlier today went on a little mini-rant on his Facebook about the same sound coming out from all the DJs. “I’m legitimately worried about the future of EDM… If producers don’t change this whole approach of copying what’s ‘cool’ we could collectively sink this ship very quickly.” He also did a quick word to new producers out there, “Music speaks so loudly, it really can act like a drug, it can send shivers down your spine. I urge any new producers to PLEASE open your minds when you produce records, don’t reference what’s currently selling, just think about what you want to achieve.” Read the full rant down below. |
