Having helped launch the careers of faceless artists like Zomby and SBTRKT when he was RAMP Recordings A&R, Tom Kerridge has applied a similar philosophy to his own creative endeavours as Girls of the Internet.
Following in the footsteps of his aforementioned RAMP discovery, who helped launch the careers of Sampha and Jessie Ware with their appearances on his first album, Kerridge affords an equal footing to the vocalists he collaborates with. His productions are simple, refined and well-arranged, allowing the space for each guest’s character to shine across a range of musical reference points – disco, house, techno, bass, ghetto and dub – infused by a penchant for its connected cultures – graffiti (Rammellzee), performance, dance and fashion (Leigh Bowery and 90’s NY Club Kids) and drag.
Coming in the wake of six EPs since 2014, SYRUP is GOTI’s debut album, recorded over two years with nine distinct voices, inclulding original Brand New Heavy Linda Muriel, rising soul star Jitwam, award winning gospel singer Charmain Elliott and Cinematic Orchestra vocalist Heidi Vogel. ‘Patience’ is one of the LP’s more languorous tracks, borrowing a similar pitched down garage blueprint from the group’s biggest hit ‘When U Go’, for Gorillaz collaborator Poté to lay a vocal sheen atop.
SYRUP is out 12th July – buy from Bandcamp.

Languorous soul on a pitched down shuffling garage beat.
