Gabe ‘Nandez channels diaspora rap on debut album, Diplomacy Posted: 23 Jul 2019 09:05 AM PDT Exploring the rapper’s experiences growing up as the child of two diplomats. Tri-lingual rap polymath Gabe ‘Nandez has today (July 23) dropped his debut album, Diplomacy. The album explores the rapper’s experiences growing up as the child of two diplomats, living in UN outposts shattered across the globe in Haiti, Jerusalem, Tanzania, and New York. The project’s 14 tracks were mostly produced by ‘Nandez himself – he even plays all the instruments heard throughout the album. Diplomacy is out now. Check out the album artwork and tracklist below. BFTT debuts on Gobstopper Records with Versioning EP Posted: 23 Jul 2019 06:37 AM PDT One of Leeds’ finest rising producers joins the Gobstopper family. BFTT will debut on Mr. Mitch's Gobstopper Records next month with a new EP, Versioning. The title of the EP refers to the laborious task of building the record’s three tracks. “Each has existed in many different iterations”, explains the Leeds producer, “with changes being made based on hearing them in different contexts such as in mixes or in the club, and having new ideas from those occasions.” Last year BFTT was featured on the second Cong Burn compilation, as well as alongside upsammy on the third instalment of Whities’ blue label series. This year the producer contributed a stunning ambient rework of Charli XCX’s ‘Focus’ to a Valentine’s Day compilation from Manchester collective boygirl. New and used music gear marketplace Reverb has been acquired by e-commerce website Etsy in a deal worth $275 million. According to a press release, Reverb will continue to run as a standalone business after the deal is closed with Etsy, which is one of the world’s most popular marketplaces for vintage and handmade items. “This transaction is a great strategic fit that firmly aligns with our mission of keeping commerce human,” said Etsy CEO Josh Silverman. “Reverb is the ‘Etsy’ of musical instruments, with significant competitive advantages, and we see tremendous value and untapped potential in the business.” “We’re excited to continue growing our marketplace, team, and community as part of Etsy,” said Reverb CEO David Kalt. “We’ve always found inspiration in Etsy. In fact, the company gave me the confidence to launch Reverb when I saw the need for a musician’s marketplace in 2013. We’re excited to align ourselves with a marketplace that has been supporting artists, makers, and creative entrepreneurs for nearly 15 years.” Reverb, which was founded by Kalt in 2013, has become one of the most popular places to buy used music gear on the web. Alabama’s Byron The Aquarius will debut on Norwegian imprint Mutual Intentions for his first LP. Astral Travelling sees the musician blending the sounds of jazz, soul, hip-hop and house, not only producing every track but playing most of the instruments heard on the record as well.
