A sensual concoction of spoken word poetry, ASMR erotica and tumescent ambient environments.
Perila, aka Russian-born, Berlin-based artist Alexandra Zakharenko crafts arresting sonic erotica on her debut album, Irer Dent. Setting breathy readings of an erotic novel and a collection of poems against sensual synth backgrounds and amorous field recordings, Perila recasts ambient music as a space for desire and sexuality. The album is the latest release from the Manchester-based label Sferic, home to Echium, Jake Muir and Space Afrika. Irer Dent is out now. Check out the cover art and tracklist below. Taking place at The Vinyl Factory in London from August 2-4. Sonos is celebrating the arrival of the Google Assistant on its range of smart speakers with an immersive, multi-sensory experience in London next month featuring music from slowthai and The National. The Brilliant Sound Experience allows guests to step “inside the inner workings of a song”, with slowthai’s ‘Toaster’ and The National’s track ‘Rylan’ recreated with different layers of soundwave-producing ‘instruments’ and visualized in light. “At Sonos, we want to inspire the world to listen better, which is why this sonic experience explores how sound works, how it layers into music, and why that music resonates with us on an emotional level,” Sonos says. In another room, guests will be able to wear an EEG headband while listening to music from labels including 4AD, Matador, Rough Trade Records, XL Recordings and Young Turks to understand their brain’s emotional response to different songs. The three-day installation takes place at The Vinyl Factory in Soho from August 2-4, and is open to the public on Friday, August 2 from 11:30 – 20:00, Saturday, August 3 from 11:30 – 19:30, and Sunday, August 4 from 12:00 – 18:00. Walk-up spaces will be available daily, but to ensure a place, sign up for time slot here. Ahead of the installation’s opening, slowthai will appear in conversation on the evening of August 1 at the central London venue, and Sonos is offering the chance to win a pair of tickets. To enter, email sonos@anyways.co with your name by July 25. The successful winner will be contacted by July 26. Pleasure seeking becomes a utilitarian instinct on the Leisure System co-founder’s debut solo LP.
Leisure System co-founder Barker returns with a full-length excursion into the euphoric, kick-less ravescape he introduced us to on last year’s spectacular Debiasing, one of our very favorite releases of 2018. Speaking about his debut album Utility, Barker explains: "After Debiasing it occurred to me that my musical decisions were often unintentionally utilitarian, following an instinct to maximize pleasure in one way or another. It's sort of unfashionable to admit, but by removing elements that have strong genre associations, this became a natural consequence." Over nine tracks the producer employs modular synthesis, self-built mechanical instruments and DIY plate reverb to create sounds aimed directly at the brain’s pleasure centers, exploring topics as diverse as dancefloor utilitarianism, transhumanism and the ethical use of narcotics and nanotechnology via a uniquely emotive and free-form approach to dance music. Utility arrives on September 6 via Ostgut Ton. Check out the album artwork, tracklist and Barker’s tour dates, below. Tracklist: A1. ‘Paradise Engineering’ A2. ‘Posmean’ A3. ‘Experience Machines’ B1. ‘Gradients Of Bliss’ B2. ‘Hedonic Treadmill’ C1. ‘Models Of Wellbeing’ C2. ‘Utility’ D1. ‘Wireheading’ D2. ‘Die-Hards Of The Darwinian Order’ Barker tour dates: Aug 02 – Amsterdam @ De School Aug 09 – Berlin @ Berghain, Ostgut Ton Nacht Aug 10 – Munich @ BLITZ! Noise and metal clash with dangdut koplo and gamelan on the Indonesian duo’s demented new album.
Indonesian rave weirdos Gabber Modus Operandi will debut on SVBKVLT next month with HOXXXYA, a new album that smashes together metal, noise and happy hardcore with the sounds of gamelan and dangdut koplo. “For this album, we owe a lot to the metal/noise scene and to the small rapidly growing rave crew in Denpasar”, explain the duo, “while at the same time a ton of influence strongly came from all the sounds blasting out of our banjar (neighbourhood) community.” HOXXXYA arrives on August 16 and will be available via the SVBKVLT Bandcamp. Check out the incredible album artwork and tracklist below. Tracklist: 01. ‘Generuwo’ 02. ‘Semeton 10 Ton’ 03. ‘Kon’ 04. ‘Tekyan’ 05. ‘Trance Adiluhunxxx’ 06. ‘Calon Arang’ 07. ‘Padang Galaxxx’ 08. ‘Sangkakala III’ Read next: 20 under-the-radar club tracks you need to hear from June 2019 The post Gabber Modus Operandi explore Indonesian happy hardcore on HOXXXYA appeared first on FACT Magazine: Music News, New Music.. |

Naive Records boss and Rádio Quantica co-founder Violet, aka Inês Borges Coutinho, will release her debut album in September on San Francisco’s Dark Entries. According to the label the producer reflects on the joys and struggles of her formative years over the course of the album’s 10 tracks, seeking “self forgiveness in an optimistic way but also in an adult way”.
