Luaka Bop have announced the next instalment in their World Spirituality Classics series, The Time For Peace Is Now, out September 13.
Founded by David Byrne, Luaka Bop is the label behind releases form artists including Alice Coltrane, Os Mutantes, and William Onyeabor.
The Time For Peace Is Now, the second volume in the World Spirituality Classics series, following on from Alice Coltrane's The Ecstatic Music of Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitanandaour favourite reissue of 2017.

The Time For Peace Is Now was compiled by soul DJ Greg Belson, and includes special essays from New York Times author Jonathan Lethem, gospel expert Robert F. Darden and Pastor Keith L. Whitney.
The compilation captures a snapshot of a unique period within gospel music, when a secular strain of the genre sprung up towards the end of the music's first golden age, post-WWII. Largely unearthed from obscure 45s found across the American south, the collection presents a "subset of seventies-era gospel, focusing not on Jesus or God, but instead on ourselves, and how we exist with each other."

WAHALA arrives on August 2.
Next up on Purple Tape Pedigree is the new album from YATTA, described by the label as “an interdisciplinary artist, digipoet, and musician.”

Listen to a new track, ‘Make The Call’, now.
LuckyMe affiliate and NTS regular Eclair Fifi has launched her own label, River Rapid.
First up on the new imprint is an EP from Afrodeutsche, aka producer Henrietta Smith-Rolla, which features four “raw hardware driven tracks” that “evoke classic Rephlex in the same breath as Underground Resistance”.

“I was listening to a lot of Afro-beat & Jazz, which undoubtedly influenced the pace of it”, explains the producer of ‘Make The Call’. “All the different parts were jammed live and kept ‘as is’ to preserve all of the wonkiness.”
RR001 arrives on July 26 via River Rapid and is available to pre-order now. Check out the cover art and tracklist below.

Tracklist:
01. ‘I Know Not What I Do’

One of three new works to be released as part of Grand River’s One Instrument series.
Indonesian experimental artist Fahmi Mursyid, Italian jazz vibraphonist Alessandro Di Puccio and Spazio Disponibile boss Donato Dozzy are the latest artists to contribute to Grand River’s One Instrument series, in which artists are challenged to make music using one instrument only, mainly in one take, with no samples and no effects other than reverb.

Donato Dozzy’s contribution is a 38-minute composition made using only a EMS Synthi AKS synthesizer while Alessandro Di Puccio’s piece features three one-take vibraphone tracks recorded 18 years ago. Finally, Fahmi Mursyid explores the music of the island of Java over six tracks, each made using a single traditional Sudanese instrument.
Fahmi Mursyid’s One Instrument Sessions arrives on September 6, while Alessandro Di Puccio and Donato Dozzy’s contributions arrive on November 1 and December 6 respectively. Check out the cover art and tracklists for all three releases below.

“To be well adjusted in this system is to be oblivious and unfeeling.”
Margaret Chardiet, aka Pharmakon, is back with her fourth album for Sacred Bones.
According to the artist, Devour “uses self-cannibalization as allegory for the self-destructive nature of humans” and sees Chardiet using her unique blend of power electronics, industrial noise and soul-baring vocal performances to explore the fallibility of the human race.

“To be well adjusted in this system is to be oblivious and unfeeling”, says Chardiet. “This is for the rest of us, who understand that chaos, madness, pain and even self-destruction are natural and inevitable responses to an unjust and disgusting world of our own making.”
The album was recorded by Uniform's Ben Greenberg and is the first Pharmakon album to be recorded live, with sides A and B presented as continuous takes with vocals from start to finish.
Devour arrives on August 30 and is available to pre-order now. Check out the album teaser, the album artwork and the tracklist, below.

Tracklist:

02. ‘Spit It Out’
03. ‘Self-Regulating System’
