In the store | YOUNG JAZZ REBELS - SLAVE RIOT Early in the last decade, just as Madlib began making a name for himself as a hip-hop beatmaker, he took a sharp creative turn and devoted himself for over a year to developing his jazz group Yesterdays New Quintet. This led to a couple albums for the group, and Madlib's own project for Blue Note Records called Shades of Blue. It would eventually blossom into an ongoing series of recordings with many more musicians and groups all working together with Madlib in what's loosely been called "Yesterdays Universe." Among the last of these records were two outstanding jazz fusion albums by the groups Young Jazz Rebels and The Last Electro-Acoustic Space Jazz & Percussion Ensemble. Both albums, produced & arranged entirely by Madlib, were released as double LP and deluxe CD's in early 2010. We have just restocked these two titles in all formats.
