It’s definitely Monday. There’s so much going on, we’ll help you keep up. Calvin Harris may be heart sick, Skrillex continues to be a rad dude, Laidback Luke has a new video… Check back, we’ve got news.
Skrillex appears on Howard Stern Skrillex appeared on Howard Stern this morning and discussed a variety of subjects, including his relationship with Ellie Goulding, the Burning Man/Jack U fiasco, button-pushing and much more, without saying too much, as most guests typically do. About Paris Hilton, he said “I don’t think she makes a million dollars a night, I think that’s a rumor.” When asked about deadmau5, Skrillex very diplomatically put it, “He criticizes everybody. He talks shit about everybody.” Check out clips below. Laidback Luke drops new video Laidback Luke released an ’80s-inspired video for his new single, “Stepping to the Beat.” Watch it below. Calvin Harris cancels MTV performance due to heart problems Calvin Harris was forced to cancel his scheduled performance at the MTV European Music Awards this past weekend, citing “heart problems” in a tweet that no longer appears to exist. Weird. [DancingAstronaut] Skrillex jokes about DJing with Paris Hilton Skrillex is one of the nicest dudes, so when TMZ attempted to bait him by asking him how much it would take to DJ with Paris Hilton, he responded “$5 million and give it to all the sick people and starving children around the world.” Never change, bud. [TMZ] Mark Ronson features DJ Zing, Hudson Mohawke & SMD Mark Ronson has revealed several of the features on his upcoming album, and they’re surprisingly indie and dancefloor-oriented. The Grammy-winning producer’s fourth album, Uptown Special, which hits shelves in January, will include collaborations with Hudson Mohawe, DJ Zinc and Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford, alongside Kevin Parker from Tame Impala, Bruno Mars and Andrew Wyatt from Miike Snow. Interesting. [NME]

Hear Tchami’s Scorching Mix For ‘Diplo & Friends’
Posted: 10 Nov 2014 10:30 AM PST
After a powerhouse Jack U takeover last month, the latest episode of ‘Diplo & Friends’ on BBC Radio 1 sees Parisian hype-magnet Tchami in the mix. The producer stepped up for the first hour of the show, proving there’s more to his repertoire than the ‘future house’ tag suggests. “He’s a new friend of mine,” Diplo announced. “I’ve met him two, three times maybe. He always dresses like a Catholic priest; he makes some of the sickest future bass, underground house, whatever you want to call it. It’s kinda the dopest music out there right now.”
The set covers a whole lot of music in 60 minutes, with Tchami’s own productions and remixes worked in around tracks from Jimmy Edgar, Gorgon City, Anna Lunoe, Kenny Dope & Raheem DeVaughn, Destructo and many more. Then, to ease us out, there’s “Emerald” from New Zealand beatmaker Samuel Truth. Tchami has been busy rolling through the US, with stops including Las Vegas (supporting Tiësto at his Hakkasan residency), New York, Chicago and LA, where he played a prime slot on the HARD Day of the Dead main stage. In early 2015, he’ll set sail on Holy Ship! alongside Skrillex, Baauer, DJ Snake, Brodinski, Fatboy Slim and many more. Get into Tchami’s ‘Diplo & Friends’ debut below to hear how he does it. |

Joel ‘Deadmau5′ Zimmerman may have vowed to lay low until next year, but his legion of fans can look forward to an imminent musical fix. The 5 years of mau5 compilation is set to arrive on November 25, and mau5trap announced the tracklist over the weekend via Facebook. The collection is divided into two parts: the first brings together some of the producer’s best-loved tracks from the last five years, while the second finds a cast of remixers let loose on the Deadmau5 catalog. You can see the full rundown below.
10 tracks make the cut on CD One, including “I Remember,” “Raise Your Weapon,” “The Veldt” and “Sofi Needs A Ladder.” (Deadmau5 diehards can now commence griping about the omissions.) Dillon Francis opens CD Two with his festival-tested take on “Some Chords,” followed by the likes of Madeon, Chuckie, Nero, Pig & Dan, Shiba San and Michael Woods. Deadmau5 will emerge from his new home “in the middle of nowhere” to play a one-off set at the Knockdown Center in Queens, New York this Tuesday, November 11. The show – presented by Live Nation and Honda Stage – will stream live on YouTube at 9pm EST. |

For Knife Party devotees, the duo’s debut album has been a long time coming. It was a happy surprise, then, to see Abandon Ship drop on iTunes over the weekend – three weeks ahead of its scheduled release date. “iTunes accidentally released the album three weeks early,” Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen casually tweeted. “Just glad it wasn’t our iCloud nudes.” Before long, the album had shot up to the Number 3 spot on iTunes’ US sales chart, right behind LPs from pop juggernauts One Direction and Taylor Swift.
Abandon Ship features 12 productions from the duo, including previously-heard festival-movers like “Boss Mode,” “Resistance” and “Begin Again.” Bryn Christopher of I See MONSTAS is the album’s only guest star. (Also, with titles like “Micropenis” and “EDM Trend Machine,” you know this is a Knife Party tracklist.) Swiftly following the leak, McGrillen and Swire were on-stage at EDC Orlando, closing out the kineticFIELD in a lashing downpour. “With every single piece of equipment soaked and breaking down in the rain you all stayed with us,” they tweeted after the set. You can check out the official “Begin Again” video below. Photo by Rukes at Ultra Miami. |

Following a healthy run by Firebeatz’s remix of Rune RK’s “Calabria,” Calvin Harris‘s R3hab-featuring single, “Burnin’,” has taken the top spot of the Beatport 100.
Although Harris needs no introduction, the 30-year-old Scottish chart-topper and reigning Forbes cash king dominated radio with hits like “Feel So Close” and his recent single “Summer,” working with everyone from Rihanna and Mary J. Blige to Florence Welch and Ellie Goulding along the way. “Burnin’,” his collaboration with Dutch studio specialist R3hab, marks his fourth #1 in 2014, and the fifth single from his latest album, Motion, which hit shelves Nov. 4. |
