Vampire Weekend Modern Vampires Of The City Vampire Weekend Step (Danny Brown, Heems & Despot Remix)
As we catch up with some of the highlights from our time off, expect a couple of tracks that you might have already heard already. Like this fantastic rap remix of Vampire Weekend‘s Modern Vampires of the City standout “Step”. Calling on Danny Brown, Heems and Despot, the three underground heavyweights spray verses that fit the aesthetic of the indie band quite perfectly.
Give the unexpected collaboration a spin below.

sbtrkt live SBTRKT Runaway F. Jessie Ware
SBTRKT gets things moving in 2014 today with a 75-second cut that he found from a session two years ago. Featuring Jessie Ware on vocals, and Tic and Sprinkle of Sampha on instrumentation, this cut is the perfect precursor for what will hopefully be coming out of this producer’s studio in the new year.
    Stream “Runaway” below.

Tay Devenny Vancouver/Palme P. Lux Natura
UK-based rapper Tay Devenny had quite a presence this year thanks to his joint release arc he collaborated on with ฬเןl , so it only makes sense that we’ll see his momentum continue to flourish as well enter 2014 with a fresh, clean palette. But before we make there, Tay gives us the two-part, wielding single “Vancouver/Palme” featuring atmospheric production from Australian producer Lux Natura (you may notice his name from Cosmic Compostions’ recent Sun Ra beat compilation).
You can tune into the eventful ”Vancouver/Palme” below, and brace yourself for hearing a lot more from Tay Devenny in the near future.

    a0193097467 10 Knxwledge WrapTaypes.Prt6.6 [bootleg] [Album]
I was under the impression that he will hold off from releasing anything else this year after Hexual.Sealings.Prt.6_however with Knx. being Knx., anything can happen. With only two days to spare, the very active producer adds at least one more project to his impressive 2013 catalog by quietly placing WrapTaypes.Prt6.6_[bootleg] on bandcamp. The formula still remains the same, Knx. laces his favorite freestyle accapelas and reworks his favorite rap tunes. On this 12-song release in particular album — he has fun with Juelz Santana’s Come Up Show freestyle, J Dilla’s “Pause”, some Drake and more. Oh yeah — for those wondering what Knx. may have in store within 2014, allow this conversation with Blu to be a guide.
Check out his new WrapTaypes.Prt6.6_[bootleg] along with a video for “blowmymnd[TWRK]_ ” below.

radiofrance 04 Watch As Madlib Talks Early Work, J Dilla & Listens To Records At The Radio France Record Library

A new Madlib interview surfaces (the rarity of those things …) featuring his visit to Radio France’s vinyl library which houses approximately 450K records. Within this spectacle of a video, he wanders through endless aisles stacked with wax and gives a listen to whatever interests him while exploring. He tackles on some of his early work with Tha Alkaholiks, some of his inspirations (e.g. Sun Ra, Melvin Van Peebles) and shares why  he thinks J Dilla was/is the best beat-maker ever.
Check out the full interview below, Madlib’s newest vinyl-only release Rock Konducta Vol. 1 is available now via Stones Throw.
