Public Service Broadcasting released their debut album 'Inform – Educate – Entertain' on 6 May 2013 through Test Card Recordings, entering the UK charts at #21. The accompanying album tour saw sell-out shows around the country, including Manchester’s Sound Control and 2 dates at London’s Village Underground. The next single taken from the album, 'Theme From PSB', is their summery, banjo-infused calling card which will soundtrack a string of festival slots around the UK. Artist: Troumaca Release: Layou Label: Brownswood Recordings Genre: Dance – Beats & Breaks / Electronica With one foot in the dance world through the LV remix and one within the NME crowd with strong looks and hooks, whilst also on the 6 Music playlist, this EP seems like the beginning of a good story for Brownswood’s first pop signing. Named after a West Indian Village on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent, Birmingham based Troumaca are as much a melting pot of sound as they are bound together by their longstanding heritage. Marrying the best bits of UK bass culture and great British songwriting, Troumaca occupy their own musical space but are blessed with a sound that is instantly loveable. Artist: Ásgeir Release: King and Cross Label: One Little Indian Records Genre: Alternative Iceland’s biggest music export since Bjork releases his breathtaking debut international single – translated to English by John Grant. At just 21 years of age Icelandic singer-songwriter Ásgeir has become a sensation in his domestic music scene – staggeringly, almost 10% of the Icelandic population now own his debut album ‘Dyrd í dauðathogn’ – the English version, translated by John Grant, will be released worldwide in October as ‘In The Silence’. ’King and Cross’ is the first single taken from the album and is a real statement of intent from this new Icelandic star. Artist: Retina Release: Dumb Label: One Beat Records Genre: Alternative – Indie Rock / Alternative Rock Dumb, who join Peace, Swim Deep and Superfood in the Birmingham revolution release their second single 'Retina' following indie-hit ‘Dive’, which continues with an explosive riot of squalling guitars and cocksure attitude and distinguishes them from the rest of what their hometown is offering. Influenced by Pixies and cult American indie rock heroes Built To Spill, the band have caught the attention of the likes of NME and BBC Radio 1. Diligent, hard-working and musically dexterous, Dumb are about to establish themselves as one of the country’s most promising new bands. |
