"Passiert auch nicht so häufig, daß das Debütalbum gleichzeitig Best-of ist", merkt der Musikexpress an und geht direkt ins Detail, warum der Stadion-Rave auf Kölschs "1977" so toll ist. Die komplette Review gibt's hier.
German mag Musikexpress loves Kölsch's "1977" and reviews the album... in German. Read it here, if you dare! |

It's certainly no coincidence that Groove Magazine's 20th podcast deals with powerhouse duo COMA who in return assembled a personal "best of Kompakt" celebrating the label's 20th birthday. Sporting a seriously enthralling selection, Marius Bubat and Georg Conrad unearthed some major label hits, but also ultra rare tracks like Supermayer's remix of Rufus Wainwright's "Tiergarten"... you'll probably hear it for the first time, that's how rare it is. COMA will also perform at Kompakt's pop up store at the Ableton HQ in Berlin on September 7th, bookending an exciting week filled with tons of workshops, DJ sets, special guests and vinyl treasures. The pop up store starts on Saturday 31st... peruse the full programm here.

Shield Patterns is the newly formed project of Manchester-based artist Claire Brentnall, who chose the project name due to her experience of living with a form of arithromania: the compulsion to count and internally create patterns from words and numbers. A habitual routine that she has experienced since childhood, these patterns unconsciously became types of personal mantras and means of protection from unresolved anxieties. Fittingly, the video for Shield Patterns' most beautiful debut single "The Rule" (to be released via Gizeh Records on September 2nd) offers a glance into a fragile world brimming with hypnotic structures, microscopic life forms and other mysterious specimens.
Update: The single is up for pre-order over on iTunes.

Lots of things can be said about Ava., Damiano von Erckert's Cologne-based house outfit, but a lack in imagination certainly isn't one of them. Check out the trailer for underground movie project "Time Sucker", which is to be packaged with Damiano's upcoming album "Love Based Music" (out on September 13th): eagerly flirting with choice camp aesthetics, this seems to fall right in line with the label's ongoing fascination with customized covers, daily detritus and vintage vinyl - keepin' it real!

In anticipation of the release of Daniel Bjarnason's upcoming full-length "Over Light Earth", Bedroom Community's Ben Frost (who collaborated with Bjarnason on the universally acclaimed "Solaris" album and also reworked one of the pieces from "Over Light Earth") presents not one, but four (!) new releases of his own: the digital releases "The Invisibles", "Sleeping Beauty", "FAR" and "Black Marrow" can be previewed and bought on his Bandcamp site... with only 7 Euros per download, it's a veritable feast for all fans of deliciously bleak soundscapes, epic experimental electronics and juicy neo-industrialism.

Coinciding with this week's release of his latest track "Verish" on the 3rd installment in the "One Night In Cómeme" series, Russian madcap Philipp Gorbachev is proud to announce his upcoming live dates for this autumn: September 14th sees Philipp take his roadshow to Tokyo for a stint at the infamous Wire club, followed by gigs in Den Haag (September 28th), Vilnius (October 11th), Skopje (October 18th) and Brussels (October 26th). In the meantime, you can prepare for Philipp's performance at La Machine Du Moulin Rouge on Friday (August 30th) with "Verish", which is the appropriately gung-ho result of a collaboration with label mates DJs Pareja... it actually sounds just as crazy in real life as it does read on paper.
