UK musicologists Flux Music snatched a grandiose mix from Terranova for their podcast series and it's a veritable delight, stuffed to the brim with feisty grooves, exclusive cut-ups and new material from Kompakt's neo-house dons, who just rocked our boats at the Kompakt Boiler Room takeover - it just might be the most rewarding Terranova mix yet, which says a lot... Fetisch and &ME never fail to impress, as can be heard on their new "Painkiller Remixe" EP. Catch the bug here!

Music video anarcho-syndicalists The29nov Films got their hands on Kobosil's "Aggregate" from his freshly released "- -----" EP on Ostgut Ton sublabel Unterton. As always, they dug up some vintage footage to re-appropriate a track's vibe, and it's a righteous banger well in tune with Kobosil's brutalist funk. Watch it here!

One of our favorite music hubs The Quietus talked to Kompakt co-founders Michael Mayer and Wolfgang Voigt as well as house patron Hans Nieswandt about the label's past (and future) - a real triarchy of Cologne's dance music history. Read the whole feature here!

The 20JK Pop Up Store Berlin resumes its programming on Friday, September 6th, at 14:00 (local time) - come by to pick up exclusive vinyl and CD releases, plus take in talks, performances, and experience the open studios. Day 6 sees an exciting record label roundtable at 16:00, sporting some of the most versed players in the independent dance industry: Jenus Baumecker-Kahmke from Ostgut Ton, Jon Berry & Michael Mayer from Kompakt and Manfredi Romano from Life And Death will give you everything you’ve ever wanted to know about labels, but were afraid to ask... if you’re a fan of electronic music in whatever form, chances are you’ve run into the venerable labels presented here. Now, hear the founders and managers behind these labels discuss the ins and outs of finding, releasing, and supporting great music. At 18:00, fiery newcomers Tale Of Us and Life And Death label founder DJ Tennis (aka aforementioned Manfredi Romano) pick up things from there and bring an emotional dance floor ride to the pop up store with their respective DJ sets. The Pop Up Store is located at Ableton HQ, Schönhauser Allee 6-7, Berlin, Germany - the space has a cap of 120 attendees, so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Oktaf returns to the fore with Gastón Arévalo's fragile epic "Rollin' Ballads", an extraordinary collection of densely textured pop-ambientesque studies heavily inspired by natural and organic sounds. Based on neo-classical sound collages and modulated field recordings, the tracks from the Uruguay-born producer are intended to mirror images of life itself - "rollin' ballads", which, as life, are always moving and constantly changing.

Stellar UK label Young Turks has been invited by RBMA Radio Berlin to host a weekly show for the whole month of September - first guest was Madrid's Pional who showed up with a mighty fine selection of spaced-out disco tunes, krauty beats and state-of-the-art house concrète, pinning down his well-rounded influences in a deliciously eclectic mix. Listen to the set here and tune in next Monday for the next installment of Young Turks' RBMA radio show!

Wolfgang Voigt's cannily enigmatic multimedia project "Zukunft Ohne Menschen" just saw it's manifestation as a deluxe book-CD format this week and it's already been reviewed by German mag Musikexpress - check the review here.

Seattle's Decibel Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, closely rubbing shoulders with that other birthday kid we've been talking a lot about lately - yeah, right... Kompakt's 20th anniversary is where it's at. To cement this spiritual link, the fine peepz from Decibel invited three artists from our roster to perform at the 20 years of Kompakt after-hours on September 28th: Kompakt's US embassador John Tejada, Cómeme's leader of the dance Matias Aguayo and The Orb's premier fuss-pot Thomas Fehlmann will take to the stage at Neumos, representing three wildly differing, but equally enthralling facets of the Kompakt sound. Get your tickets here and check out the event here!

Vice's music clerks Noisey dropped a somewhat flippant, but lovingly sneering feature on the history of Kompakt records, choosing eight releases from the label back catalogue to comment on the many ups and few downs of 20 years well spent in the maelstrom of the teutonic dance music industry. It's all pretty spot-on, especially when it comes to the serpentine roads techno has taken in Germany, and also mostly good-natured, so you definitely "need to hear this"... get the whole scoop here!
