There's this thing in German that we call a "Schnapszahl": literally meaning "schnapps number", it refers to repdigits... multidigit numbers with all digits identical. Why this highbrow introduction, you ask? Well, our very own Denis Stockhausen celebrates his 33rd birthday with an awesome party at Gewölbe on Saturday, September 21st, and rest assured that the "schnapps" part of the lengthy explanation above will get its due attention. And if that incentive is not enough for you, you'll also be treated to DJ sets from very special guest Dinky (who returns to the Gewölbe for an encore after last year's fabulous stint) and the ominous Stocksaur DJ Team a.k.a. the "Warehouse Dreamboys" (consisting of host Denis Stockhausen and his partner in crime Jo Saurbier). Yeah, we know... we already had you at "vodka". More info here, though!

Having established himself as Cómeme's premier in-house remixer, Christian S seems to be the perfect guy to go to if you need a new release thoroughly souped up. After brilliant revamps of Philipp Gorbachev's "Last Days Of The District" or Christian's own "Die Durch Die Nase Lachen", it is now the turn of Alejandro Paz whose banging cut "El House" (from Cómeme's paramount "El Untitled" 12" sampler) gets the special "I am the one who knocks" treatment. And as if all that is not awesome enough, it's also a free download - check it out here! |

When Kompakt was hosting its pop up store at Cologne's highly reputed art fair Art Cologne earlier this year, Wolfgang Voigt's "Zukunft Ohne Menschen" was one of the most talked about projects - entering the fair, visitors were greeted by the sound installation in the foyer, but that was only one part of the experience: the project's scope only became apparent once you entered a separate room next to the pop up store, where a multimedia concept in ten parts, composed of music, videos and digital painting, was looping for the duration of the fair. Now available as a deluxe book-CD format (comprising 10 pieces of music and 10 works of visual art), "Zukunft Ohne Menschen" doesn't fail to impress the inquiring mind even on a smaller scale. Still, for all those who weren't able to witness it in its intended form, we've got this video to give you an impression of the original installation - in the same slyly cryptic manner that perfuses all of Wolfgang Voigt's fascinating work.
