Our Pop Up Store Berlin might be over, but the birthday festivities continue - in Brussels, where the 20JK party train makes a stop for an all-star billing at superclub Mirano on Friday, September 13th. Again, it's a stellar line-up featuring some of Kompakt's most revered acts, including label honcho Michael Mayer, techno troubadour Justus Köhncke, house activist Tobias Thomas, pop maestros COMA, DJ duo infernale Stocksaur (Denis Stockhausen & Jo Saurbier) and VJ fuss-pot Okinawa 69. The very first VUT award (coming from the "Verband Unabhängiger Musikunternehmen" - the association of German independent labels) were bestowed upon the laureates, and among the other winners (Modeselektor, City Slang et al.), our very own Wolfgang Voigt got the special award for his artistic work and his role in the founding of Kompakt. It's a fitting closure to an exciting last week full of highlights - our Pop Up Store in Berlin, the big birthday bash at Berghain, but also a rare performance from Wolfgang Voigt at Boiler Room. Congrats and thanks!

It's Monday again, high time for Young Turks' RBMA takeover - as we explained last week for the awesome performance coming from Pional, the label has been invited by Red Bull Music Academy Radio Berlin to host a weekly show for the month of September. Today, it's the turn of famed UK producer/singer Sampha, who just released his beautiful "Dual" EP via Young Turks - tune in here at 10pm (local time)! Upcoming shows will feature Twigs (on September 16th) and Koreless (on September 23rd).

One of the newer kids on the blog, LA-based label outfit Zoombézoom just released its second record this week and it's a pretty amazing one. Seattle-based producer Jon McMillion presents two rad new tracks on "Horus House" that spurred The Stranger's Dave Segal to declare them "not your father's club music - although it may be your weird older brother's".
