This Week On Abeano – Ikonika, Willis Earl Beal, Arca, NTS, Hyetal, Obey City & More Posted: 26 Jul 2013 08:57 AM PDT As the thunderstorms roll in and the sweat gets wetter in this tropical climate, it’s a good time to reflect. We’ve had some good’uns up on the blog this week, so here’s a little selection of the best bits: Ikonika, who played for us last night at The Shacklewell Arms, released an excellent video for her breezy glider Mr. Cake. Soulful Chicagoan Willis Earl Beal released a new track from forthcoming Nobody knows. LP. Too Dry To Cry is a thumping, emotional cracker, and promises great, great things. We were back on NTS on Saturday playing you all sorts of good stuff, like HADE + DWFL, Redinho, Yung Lean (pictured) and much more. Elusive Venezuelan producer and Kanye West/ Twigs collaborator Arca popped a link to this website this week, and you’ll be amazed at how good all the (original) material blends with the creep gif backdrop. Hyetal’s new video for Jam The Network is a real… What’s the opposite of eyesore? Eyerub? Yeah, eyerub. Full of swirling colours and digitised races, it’s a real treat for the senses. LuckyMe signing Obey City is to release his debut record Champagne Sounds, and this little teaser, Fallin’, is a percussive and jazzed-up taste of what’s to come. The lads at Bloc Party releases a surprising little EP recently, and with releases come remixes, a job which Glaswegian Rustie took up on the bombastic Ratchet. Lastly, an exceptional EP stream we had an exclusive of this week, Walter Ego’s house-heavy Heaven. Pearly gates ain’t got shit on it.
