French style mag Tsugi presents a special edition concerned with the landscape of independent labelmaking, where they focus on 100 essential outlets. Those not only include Kompakt (thanks, Tsugi!), but also our distribution labels Ostgut Ton, Raster Noton, Young Turks and Arbutus Records. It's seemingly a print-only thing, so you better get off your buttocks and go hunt for some classic dead-tree media!

Last week, Overdose gather the Kompakt standout's thoughts on his latest full-length, "1977", some childhood memories and working with Nicki Minaj. Read the whole thing here.

File under "trippy tripdi trip": kraut slasher Barnt prepares for his voyage, voyage to the famed Nachtdigital festival (from August 2nd to August 4th) with a new ambient epic called "Minutes". Sporting all the right shades of uncanny, the piece will be released at the festival's start and comes with a flipside produced by Metaboman & Large M. Kompakt affiliates present on-site include Michael Mayer and Lena Willikens, among other luminaries like Blawan, Anstam, James Holden, Lukid, Blondes and much, much more... simply the best of times to be into electronic music!

Karlsruhe-based avant-dance outfit Diskant has become well-known for both its musical output and visual presentation, with their wonderfully off-beat releases usually being packaged in gorgeous silkscreen artist prints. The label's next strike will be no different: produced by Don't DJ, the "Rid.em" EP is the first solo outing of the Institut Für Feinmotorik and The Durian Brothers member, featuring artwork by Lotte Effinger. As you can see, the Diskant staff is hard at work for the record to hit shelves this coming week, and it's going to be quite an impact, if you ask us! Limited to 500 copies worldwide, this is definitely not something to sit out on.

Now, this heat-packing, cowbell-blasting floor wrecker got its own, perfectly suitable video... check it out here!

Last Monday saw a phenomenal Kompakt session at the 10 Days Off festival, with Michael Mayer, Kölsch, Gui Boratto, Coma and Okinawa 69 delivering peak performances to a frenzied crowd. Check out the festival's photo gallery for some impressions of that terrific event!
