Toronto duo and OVO Sound signees Majid Jordan announced their self-titled debut album today (Feb. 5). To celebrate the pair have released a video clip for their song "King City" — which was the album's third single.
The duo, comprised of Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman, have already released "Something About You" and "My Love" as singles.
The video features the pair arriving at a house party with Majid forming a mutual attraction with a woman at the event. While things seem to move quickly into romantic territory, the video ends mysteriously.
The clip is in sync with the group's low-key identity. Majid Jordan is just beginning to emerge publicly and the group gave their first extended interview to the New York Times just over a week ago. The duo talked about how their first EP release was heard by Drake's producer Noah '40' Shebib a day after they posted their songs on the Internet.
"That’s the thing about Toronto," Al Maskati said in the interview. "The degrees of separation to someone as accomplished as Drake are not very far."
The group ended up contributing their skills to Drake's "Hold On, We’re Going Home," the hit single from Drake's third album Nothing Was the Same. Since 2012, the group have been groomed under the tutelage of Drake's producer Noah '40' Shebib.
"That’s what Toronto is about — sharing ideas, communicating, passing on your tricks and knowledge," Al Maskati said.
