Shadow Child and T.Williams Announce 2×5 North American Tour

202a7cfd-02f4-498f-9c47-e1ae793b1db6
UK House legends and master Techno selectors Shadow Child and T.Williams will return to their eager North American fanbase to deliver a journey through the sounds of the underground. The ‘2×5 Tour’ will take over dancefloors in 5 cities from May 8-16.

Shadow Child first sprung onto the scene through his 2012 dirtybird debut EP and dancefloor dominating track ‘String Thing’. With massive support from Claude VonStroke and Eats Everything Shadow Child’s bass centered sound emerged as a beacon at the forefront of the industry. Such momentum carried on in the studio, yielding his instant classic remix of Mary J Blige and the 12 month Beatport chart topping reign of ‘Piano Weapon’. He has gone on to take his groove ridden, quirky style to dancefloors all around the world – showcasing his abilities as a producer and curator alike. Utmost skills as a selector have earned him his own show on Rinse.FM and the launch of his now infamous Food Music imprint alongside Kry Wolf.

Emerging as one of grime’s most influential producers at a young age, T turned to house music in the late 00s, incorporating his influences of jungle, grime and garage and stitching them into his own 4×4 template. His debut PMR released EP, ‘Pain & Love”, saw immense support from tastemakers like Annie Mac and Fearne Cotton, solidifying his full transition into the house world. Similarly, his remix work exploded in 2012, with his club minded rendition of Disclosure’s “Latch” gaining 300k plays in a few months.

2015 has been a seminal year for T.Williams. His constant craving to seek out innovation and new movements prompted the launch of his own ‘Today, Tomorrow’ imprint. This aim to bridge and bend sounds and genres is exemplified in his debut EP on the label Acoustic Treatment. The release showcases his sultry recreation of UK House, delivering rich instrumentation and grooves from his diverse history in House and Grime. It is this collision of roots that has been the catalyst for T’s genre defying success, and at a time when the worlds of urban and electronic music swirl ever closer, T and his label are primed to deliver an organic point of intersection.

‘2×5’ represents a meeting of the minds of two figureheads in the UK House movement – taking fans, critics, and heads alike through the history books of 4×4 delicacies from across the pond. The tour will touch down at Chicago’s Spy Bar, Toronto’s Hoxton, San Diego’s Bang Bang, San Francisco’s Audio and Los Angeles’s Lot 613 May 8-16.

Machinedrum Drops DJ Rashad Collaboration, “Understand”

Machinedrum_AndrewDeFrancesco_240214

Machinedrum has announced ‘Movin’ Forward’, a collection of collaborations with the late DJ Rashad. It will be available from April 24, to mark a year since the Chicago producer’s passing.

The first track is ‘Understand’, a collab between Machinedrum, Rashad and Nick Hook. You can listen to it below.

Machinedrum, real name Travis Stewart, was lucky enough to work on music with the footwork and juke pioneer a few times before he died. On announcing ‘Movin’ Forward’, Stewart wrote: “The tracks were never completely finished and seemed impossible to finish after he passed.”

“Eventually I mustered up enough courage to open the sessions and finish them. It is what Rashad would have wanted me to do.”

‘Movin’ Forward’ will also feature two unreleased Machinedrum tracks inspired by Rashad and his Teklife crew. If ‘Understand’ is anything to go by, it will be well worth a spin.

100 per cent of proceeds will go to DJ Rashad’s family and estate.

Jayceeoh Releases New Single, “Jit Going Ham”

11083605_10152836763763635_2533779473054419837_n

Dance music hypebeast, Jayceeoh, teams up with Buygore Records for his latest single “Jit Goin’ Ham”. Just in time for the holidays, catch this free download for any and all 4/20 festivities.

Jayceeoh was first inspired by “Jit Going Ham: Little Boy Destroying A Dollar Store For No Reason!”, the classic viral video that’s reached almost 1 million views after being posted to World Star Hip Hop.

The recording follows a “jit” (courtesy of Urban Dictionary: Juvenile in training. Any juvenile who doesn’t know how to act right and still needs grown-up training) losing it’s damn mind in a convenience store and destroying everything within it’s short wrath filled reach.

Jayceeoh’s spin on this video pulls audio samples from the man filming / narrating the acts of this child-terror. “Jit Goin’ Ham” hits harder than a rage filled jit’s fists to a box of unsuspecting cereal, emulating the aggressive acts of the child with choppy heavy thumping bass lines. Guaranteed to get jits and proper players going HAM, Jayceeoh brings the noise to a more appropriate setting, the dancefloor.
