APEX TWIN
A green blimp with the number “2014″ and the Aphex Twin logo appeared in London’s skies this weekend. The Aphex Twin logo then appeared all over New York City. Go ahead and get full-on excited about that now, because Richard D. James has just announced SYRO, his first Aphex Twin LP since 2001′s Drukqs. It was announced via Tor, the deep web browser typically used for the internet’s shadier pursuits.
DARKSIDE
Darkside, the duo of Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington, released an excellent LP last year called Psychic. And now, they’re calling it a day. They tweeted earlier that they’re “coming to an end, for now,” then announced their final show and shared two outtakes from the Psychic sessions. One is, appropriately, called “Gone Too Soon”. Listen to that and “What They Say” below.
According to Jaar, both tracks will be released as part of the WORK compilation, which is out via his Other People imprint in late September. Their final show takes place at the Masonic Temple in Brooklyn on September 12.
TODD TERJE
Todd Terje played a pretty spectacular live set at Øyafestivalen in Norway’s Capital on August 9, and it’s now available online for viewing pleasure.
Performing alongside acts like Outkast, Robyn and Darkside, Todd Terje went all out in delivering Norway an epic, multi-instrumental show.
The set was ornamented with live strings and percussions, complete with an unexpected guest appearance from Bryan Ferry. Watch the set at Øyafestivalen here on Musikk.
