As winter waves its cold little fingers and beckons longer nights and shorter days, it's easy to slip inside a full blown case of S.A.D.
In Vancouver, I'm always looking for ways to stave off the grey gloom that envelopes us like an oppressive dome October through April. This year I'm fighting back with music and the danciest, happiest jams that 2014 has to offer.
In this playlist, you'll find music from familiar faces (Kendrick Lamar, St. Vincent) and brand new names (Natalia Lugo, JEEN.), Canadians (the New Pornographers, Buck 65, Stars) and international artists (Yuna, Stromae, Röyksopp & Robyn). Each song transforms any space into its own personal dance floor or at least brings a smile to the face and a little shake to the hips.
Click through the gallery above to find out more about each song and check out the great vintage photos of people (and animals!) who also loved to cut a rug. Press play on the video playlist below to keep the music going while you check out the gallery.
