Paris DJs: Gato Loco - Cumbia Call (music video) @ Musique Non Stop |

Penning themselves as Psycho-Mambo from NYC, Gato Loco were formed in 2006 by NYC native Stefan Zeniuk. Their sound is unique and never boring. Jazz? Rock? Latin? Vintage? New? Gato Loco are really hard to pigeonhole, and this new song illustrated by a self made claymation video is a fantastic new addition to the band's ever-growing mystery. Paris DJs Playlist - February 2014
Posted: 01 Mar 2014 06:35 AM PST
The Paris DJs trio, Grant Phabao, Ben Hito & Djouls, have been quite busy this month, preparing the next compilations, singles and remixes with the help of tastemakers Miska Events & Loik Dury, hip hop lyricist RacecaR, reggae singer Taiwan MC and keyboard player Soul Sugar…
On the releases front, they've put out the extremely relaxed theme single from Captain Détendu, and the first Paris DJs Soundsystem Hip Hop compilation, 'Take The Chains Off Your Brains' - on a psychedelic tip! There's also been two bands featured in Paris DJs' catalog who brought some goodies on the table, in the form of FREE digital singles: some really surprising afro-rock from Amsterdam's finest Jungle By Night, and more addictive afro-pop from Brooklynites Nikhil P. Yerawadekar & Low Mentality. Meanwhile, only a handful of new records reached the shores on the studios located in the 20th suburb, the soulful north-east of Paris. Hats off to Brighton-based eight piece King Porter Stomp for their new soundclash of styles produced by Prince Fatty, totally unique in a way that Paris DJs can easily relate to; hats off to English multitasking producer Quantic, going all Kuduro on us with his new hypnotic dancefloor single; hats off to French band Skim&Tone, who's blend of jazz, funk, hip hop, afrobeat, blues and latin grooves is a really cool alchemy, featured twice in Paris DJs' latest Soundcloud Selection; hats off to the electro-punk, abstract hip hop, blues rock melancholia of St.Lô, produced by the legendary Earl Blaize from Antipop Consortium and featuring the amazing Brooklyn Funk Essentials singer Hanifah Walidah; and finally, hats off to German digger Tobias Kirmayer, proudly presenting the 6th volume of his 'Movements' series on his label Tramp Records, another essential collection of really rare grooves. It seems like digital music is reigning supreme while labels and artists have a hard time existing in the real world but those are part of the resistance!! And don't worry, Paris DJs has a lot of new thematic compilations cooking, and will soon start a crowdfunding campaign for a pressing a 45 boxset and a double LP (shhhhhh… more new about that soon!) - so expect the label to start fulfilling some of your digital and vinyl music needs in 2014!
