Check the teaser for the album below:

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself please. Who are you, where are you from etc.?
M: We’re from Melbourne. We met in high school and played in a wonky pop band called Psuche when we were 16, 17 ish. We retained some of the musical elements from Psuche but developed new sounds and influences and formed the duo Oscar + Martin. We create music full of joy and childlike profundity. Our live show is a blend of analogue keyboards, tape loops, toy instruments and percussion. The songs combine a lushness and textured detail that rubs up against a hip hop sensibility.

How would you describe your music?
Nowadays its very R’n'B, Dance music and Garage influenced, with a sound pallet that varies between being lush and expensive sounding, and home made and kind of crappy sounding, along the lines of casios and porta-sounds. I think we both started out trying to make our crappy toy synths sound like the expensive real ones, and then we just kind of upgraded to software synths and make do with a combination of the two.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?
M: I look to personal experience, and pop lyricists with the ability to express clichés with such subtlety you don’t even notice, like Alicia Keys for example, I like straight forward lyrics, nothing to overly floral and romantic or self-consciously poetic, because i often find things like that convoluted.

Aesthetically I draw from a lot of Sci-Fi movies, Korean cinema and sports culture.

Whom do you count amongst your most significant influences when it comes to production?
M: Definitely Darkchild, and Timbaland, early Aaliyah stuff is still something i refer back to when making my own thing.

Right now Knxledge blows my mind a little also, Olof Dreijer and also Pharrell has been producing some pretty incredible shit recently, like that 2 chains track Feds Watchin is crazy. Lately iv been into a bit of HitBoy and that Kelly Rowlands track Dirty Laundry by the Dream, and although i can’t stand actually listening to Skrillex, i kind of have a soft spot for him since spring breakers..
Sorry, i realise that last answer was a bit of a mind vom, but you know thats kind of a complex question right..

What releases / gigs are out there or coming soon?
Oscar and Martin is obviously both a band name but also our actual individual producer names and we both work together and on various other projects. Here’s what’s coming soon:
Oscar has just released a double single Sure Thing(Miguel Cover)/ It’s Coming, and I’m just about to put out my first solo ep. here

also, Oscar works with rapper html/flowers in a project called brothers hand mirror, and I’m working with my band called the harpoons, to put out our first album very shortly.

Do you have a current DJ mix or any tracks that are available for free download right now that we could point folks to?
see previous question…
