Office productivity has gone down somewhat since the release of Grand Theft Auto V this week, 'cos there's nothing better than cruising through San Andreas with Soulwax FM blasting out of the virtual car speakers. As we already mentioned hereMatias Aguayo's "El Sucu Tucu" (from his "The Visitor" full-length) and Daniel Maloso's "Body Music" (from the "In And Out" album) are featured on the game's soundtrack, which is quite a big thing for us... and it's getting bigger, as GTA V sales just hit 1 Billion Dollars in three days. But there's so much more to the game than cabbage: for many, the franchise holds a very special place in their hearts, as Daniel Maloso can confirm:

After his impeccable contributions for SBTRKT, Jessie Ware and others over the past years, Sampha finally made his much celebrated solo debut in July on Young Turks with the beautiful Dual EP. On his already paved way into the big league, Sampha just completed another major step in collaborating with Canadian rapper Drake on the new single Too Much of his upcoming album Nothing Was The Same. Check the world premiere of their collaborative effort on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon above and if you can't get enough also his excellent private performance for Yours Truly right here.

Cómeme chief Matias Aguayo performs live with The District Union in Berlin during this year's Berlin Music Week. The first date on September 4th will take them to Berlin's Chalet for the first edition of the showcase event First We Take Berlin. They'll be joint by Coma and some members of the Dorfjungs crew. Two nights later Aguayo and Cómeme's powerful rhythm section play Berlin Festival at Hangar 4, starting at 4 PM. The Berlin jaunt comes after a little tour with Chilean noise-duo Mostro.

It's not an official video or anything, but still a nice reminder of how awesome last weekend's Kompakt stint at Liverpool's bombed out church was. Gui Boratto can be heard here while ripping through the crowd with one of his epic sets... it's really a sight to behold. More pics can be found at Freeze Liverpool's Facebook page!

Matias Aguayo: The Visitor – review

    (Cómeme)

He is 40 now, but Chilean-born, German-raised guerrilla rave instigator Matias Aguayo is a classic nomad. At home everywhere and nowhere, the techno producer's third album under his own name is The Visitor, a post-digital block party full of computer music whose Latinate rhythms and rolled Rs don't conform to grid or template. Half-sung, half-rapped in Spanish and English, Una Fiesta Diferente illustrates how Aguayo's dancefloor nous can effortlessly give rise to a pop tune. It's bettered by the irrepressibly bobbling El Sucu Tucu, whose nonsense vocals ("Brrak!") just add to the seductive, no-borders feel.

        Matias Aguayo, The Visitor

Thoroughly steeped in invigorating, choppy rhythms and chants
As half of Closer Musik and on his own, dance producer Matais Aguayo was always an odd duck of Kompakt Records — a label that’s hatched a few. Aguayo is Chilean, and South American rhythms and percussion have made their way increasingly into his recordings; in 2009 he founded the label Cómeme to explore the intersection of analog gear and Latin grooves. It’s not surprising that Aguayo’s decision to issue The Visitor on Cómeme (which Kompakt distributes) means that it’s his most thoroughly steeped in invigorating, choppy rhythms and chants, as well as his archetypal Berlin-bred minimalist psychedelia. “El Sucu Tucu” even nods to the queen of Latin crossover herself, Gloria Estefan, briefly quoting Miami Sound Machine’s “Conga” in the midst of a hard-popping samba groove. The album is stuffed with percussion, as was 2009′s Ay Ay Ay, but this album is less abstruse, friendlier and fully assured.

From "The Visitor", the new album from Matias Aguayo. Available June 24 on Cómeme.
