Splash House wraps first of two Summer festivals

Relative newcomer to the festival scene, Splash House, has just wrapped their first weekend of Summer shenanigans.  The pool-party-centric occassion boasted a more diverse lineup than we have seen in years prior.  From tech and UK house to jersey club and future bass, this past weekend certainly offered something for every electronic music connoisseur.

As far as music festivals go on the west coast, Splash House stands alone as one of the most unique get togethers around.  The bustling Los Angeles music scene collides with a colorful enslaught of dance music lovers in the desert oasis of Palm Springs, creating a new and exciting atmosphere. Without fail, each party has been getting tighter anfd tighter each year, an impressive feat considering the technicaly daunting blueprints of the weekend: thousands of partiers navegating city shuttles to three separate venues in the desert, not to mention the after parties.

Our hats are off to the Splash HouseLED, and Goldenvoice teams for making this event fantastic once again.  Get your tickets to the August festival here.

Hudson Mohawke releases new album, “Lantern”

Ever since Hudson Mohawke dropped a cryptic teaser video for his sophomore LP several months ago, it’s become increasingly difficult to avoid the Scottish producer’s name, regardless of the genre you favor. Anticipation has been building since he burst onto the scene with 2012’s monstrous TNGHT EP, and it appears that fans of many genres, not just hip-hop and electronic music, have joined his realm.

Like many artists, Hudson Mohawke isn’t keen on being pigeonholed. The same can be said about listeners. Despite that fact, HudMo largely remains thought of as an electronic producer, an umbrella term that some would be quick to dismiss or even condemn. Thus, his recent popularity raises the question: What is it about Ross “Hudson Mohawke” Birchard that captures the attention of non-electronic fans? In a culture peppered with EDM skeptics, how has he managed to skip through a gauntlet of haters not just unscathed, but praised?

New social platform for producers announced by Propellerhead

Propellerhead—the company behind Reason, ReBirth, Figure and Take—has announced a new platform that will allow users to easily collaborate and work on music together. As reported by Resident Advisor, a user will sign up and create a track, or idea, using Propellerhead’s software and upload it to their servers. The upload can then be pulled by anyone, to add parts and re-upload for constant collaboration. The software’s API is available to other developers, so software outside the Propellerhead realm can get the same treatment.

You can check out a video from Propellerhead showing the process below, with more information available at the Propellerhead website.
