David August is a musical genius
In preparation for his RA Session, David August sourced a voice sample of Alfred Hitchcock and composed some bass sounds. He then took the words of the revered film director as inspiration and built a completely improvised piece—one he’s never performed before, and will never perform again. It was only a few years back that August was a DJ with a vague idea that he’d like to just play live. These days he’s one of the biggest draws in dance music, finishing 2014 as the #4 live act on our annual list. August has got there through the strength of his live show and a compelling signature sound. His sets blend musicianship with technical nous in a way that makes his efforts obvious to the audience—far from “pressing play,” in other words. As for his style, August made his name through a run of melodically rich club tracks for Diynamic Music and, most recently, Dixon and Âme’s all-conquering Innervisions label. As on last year’s “Epikur,” he conjures emotions without resorting to clichés, delaying gratification until the moment is just right.

Big Gigantic joins a bass-heavy crew at Control LA
Big Gigantic are known for their groovy, jazz-influenced take on Bass Music. They deliberately craft their DJ sets to take the audience on a musical journey – effortlessly moving through BPMs and styles to create a singular, cohesive piece of music. Their productions are equally as impressive and showcase the duo’s diverse musical background, knowledge, and skill.

Kill Paris is just recently released his ‘Galaxies Between Us’ EP for free download on Soundcloud, and has already had almost half a million plays on the lead single “Operate”. His signature sound blends heavy melodies with funky glitch-hop to create heavy, but still ear-pleasing tunes.

Soundcloud announces latest feature of their ever-evolving platform
SoundCloud will soon introduce streaming limits outside of its network. Starting July 1, any track hosted on the service will be limited to 15,000 streams in a 24 hour period.
The limitation won’t affect tracks played directly on Soundcloud — only those played via a third-party app. To enforce the new playback rule, SoundCloud is instituting a 15,000 play request limit on their API.
SoundCloud says it’s “dealing with an increasing number of applications that abuse creator content” and thinks the API limit will help.
It’s an interesting move for SoundCloud, which is facing incoming fire from Apple Music, which has a feature called ‘Connect’ that is similar to SoundCloud’s upload feature.
Note: SoundCloud got back to us — this limit only affects its API, not embedded streams. SoundCloud also says the change will affect a small number of Developers.
