Electronic music megastar Skrillex casually released a new album via app late last night. The app, a game called Alien Ride, contained a folder marked "secret," which players couldn't open. Redditors analyzed the game's code and found links to 11 unnamed tracks in iTunes and Google Play.
One song was unlocked every half hour between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. UTC, until the whole album, entitled Recess, was available to stream in the game. Recess comes out on March 18, but is streaming via iTunes Radio's First Play feature, as well as Alien Ride.
The album contains an amazing range of collaborations, including songs with K-pop star G-Dragon, blog rap favourite Chance the Rapper and old school U.K. ragga jungle duo the Ragga Twins.
If you don't have access to iTunes Radio and can't be bothered downloading Alien Ride, a Canadian fan going by the name Tom Lube has set up a stream in SoundCloud.
(Who wants to bet that Tom Lube is secretly Skrillex?)
