Label: Dox Records/Octave Lab
Released: February 2014
Fire is the sophomore effort from the Dutch quartet Bruut! that sees them continuing with their own brand of Hammond organ and alto sax driven mod jazz. As on their previous release all of the tracks have one-word titles that often reflect the mood of the tune. Wiggle and Black sound like they could be the music from a brothel scene in a sixties thriller, while Moj and Fury have a slight punk or new wave influence. Probably the real killer tunes, though, are Fly and the soul jazz moods of Glimpse. As with their debut more good fun vibes.
