 I’m not a fan of artists performing over producer’s tracks if it isn’t a true collaboration because it usually sounds disjointed and awkward. SoCal emcee/producer Brian to Earth, however does a fantastic job of rhyming over beats by Suff Daddy, Madlib, and Melodiesinfonie among others without sounding completely out of sorts. Maybe it’s because he’s a producer himself – I’d be remiss if I exclude he contributed a few tracks to the project as well.  If you didn’t grab Tope’s Troubleman EP (Download) that’s something you shouldn’t take your time rectifying. As incentive to support, he’s released the visuals to his Farnell Newton featured, Erykah Badu sampled Take Your Time which will have you reminiscing over days of listening to Mama’s Gun back in 2000.  |
