 Kompakt posterboy Michael Mayer will throw his Kompakt Night at Tel Aviv's The Block tonight, January 9th. As is custom, the Kompakt chief tops the bill with support from Kompakt duo COMA playing live at The Squat. It's all due to kick off at 11:30 PM. On warm-up duty will be Naduve, Asaf Samuel and local electronic trio Garden City Movement who will perform live. More infos here!   |

Cologne's Ki imprint never ceases to surprise with deep, deep sounds coming from beyond the genre barrier. The label's latest feat is the "Holidays" 7" from upcoming dj/producer duo Colo, featuring a well-tempered remix from Christian Löffler on the flipside - it's the teaser for their debut album "UR" expected in Spring 2014. Sub Club cognoscenti certainly don't need an introduction to Michael Mayer, when the internationally acclaimed DJ returns to Glasgow's much-famed party institution on Saturday, November 30th. Still, the nice interview the Sub crew did with Michael should prove to be an interesting read for fans and noobs alike, as Kompakt's diamond geezer gives a first résumé of the label's anniversary year and talks shop about some of his favorite tunes. Directed by acclaimed Russian artist and TED fellow Uldus Bakhtiozina, the third video for Popnoname's recently released "50°" album (after "Flame Of The Pilots" and "Meteor") has reached our shores and just like its source song "Anna", it's a dreamy, beautifully fragile affair. Uldus also lent her voice to the track (for the spoken word bits, obviously), so one could say that this one goes full circle quite nicely. "50°" is both available as standard CD or as very special art edition - pick your fix!   |

Pop Ambient stalwart and Oktaf labelhead Marsen Jules is set to release his new album "Beautyfear" via his own imprint in January, delivering what may be considered one of his most outstanding full-length offerings so far. It has been mastered by none other than legendary 12K head honcho Taylor Deupree and comes with a cover picture taken by the highly acclaimed NYC photographer Erik Madigan Heck. All twelve tracks on "Beautyfear" were created during a week stay in a theatre workspace on one of the hills of Lisbon, a great starting point into 2014 which will also see a cooperation with Swedish filmmaker Anders Weberg and an upcoming release of Marsen Jules' works from a residence at the legendary GRM studios in Paris. Also, there's gonna be a new Pop Ambient compilation shaping up to be one of the most satisfying instalments in the series, and Marsen Jules is guaranteed to be found on the tracklist. Being on stage is nothing new to him, but it's quite a rare occurrence that we witness Michael Mayer giving an acceptance speech instead of playing music. Too rare, thought German music hub Musikexpress and not only invited Kompakt's labelhead to play an after-show set for the Musikexpress Style Award 2013, but gave him a well-deserved award as "Best DJ" of the year as well. British site Data Transmission not only awarded Kompakt with "an output that is colourful, dense, intricate and ramp with that one thing that Germans allegedly never had" but also championed Michael Mayer as a "genuine caveat of greatness."
