Labels are always trying to come up with new and innovative ways for people to get in touch with the music being released on the label, and to actually go out and buy them. But with this brand new concept from Kindergarten Records, it seems they have come up with one of the cleverest concepts yet.
Being released on February 17th is the first, in a 3-part “Spirit Animal” concept series. Each single will be represented visually by a different cosmic, mysterious animal, depicted in the chart below. The first single, Popeska ft. Denny White’s ‘Heart of Glass‘, is represented by a blue, magical horse. The other 2 animals are a giraffe and an owl, but we cannot see the description of them yet.

Every song to me has a soul to it, something that makes it feel like it has a life of its own. I know I’ve finished a song when I feel that it has finally 'come alive.' My music is a collection of beings that have been born out of my head, heart, and soul, and these beings carry my message, with and without words. I imagine these beings as animals, spirit animals, living in the songs, living as the songs, vibrant and colorful and living in a world so very different from our own, yet not so different at all. – Popeska
Preview ‘Heart of Glass‘ from Popeska above, and get your copy when it is released on February 17th to see if you can collect all the spirit animals.

      David Heartbreak Metalica
Before I dive into this review of one of David Heartbreak‘s newest musical ventures, I’d like to quote the article Adapt or Die: Playing the DJ Game I read a while back from inthemix with Major Lazer that I find especially fitting for this review. Here is a snippet of Diplo’s perspective on adapting within the music scene:
And yes, the culture we came from is missing, but there is a new culture around the DJs. The young fans who also don't understand the culture are perpetuating something – it's not a good or bad thing, just a different thing. Music is always changing and if you complain about its direction or if it depresses you, you might as well just get out now, because it's always in a state of metamorphosis.
Producers are constantly looking to create their own sound. Sometimes it’s successful and other times it isn’t. Our buddy David Heartbreak is one of those successful artists that will take any song and make it engaging for anyone who gives it a chance. We are always stoked when he sends us his newest productions and remixes… mainly because we never know what to expect from him but we know it’ll be something we’ve never heard from other artists before. Heartbreak’s artistry is the definition of musical metamorphosis that Diplo mentioned in the above quote. With his extensive knowledge and tenacity to pay homage to any genre of music, Heartbreak decided to take advantage of his love for heavy metal and flip the very famous Metallica song “Enter Sandman”.
This version of “Enter Sandman”, like the original, is full of energy and aggression. It’s adaptable to a plethora of sets and mixes; not to mention it’s a really good introduction to your metal head friends who are reluctant to the idea of listening to electronic music. This Heartbreak flip hits home especially for me, since my dad happens to be a huge fan of Metallica. Even my 53 year old dad was so into it. Plus, imagine you’re at a rave and out of nowhere Metallica starts playing…. but like a really dope edit of Metallica. This is that edit. David Heartbreak utilizes the utmost important elements of “Enter Sandman” that makes the song so famous. Heavy bass and guitar melodies are still the highlight of the edit. But somehow, the juxtaposition of trap influences and metal create a noteworthy acclaim to this staple Metallica song.
So, without further ado, exit light. Enter night. Taaaaake my hand…. off to raver, raverland!

Everyone loves a good mystery. And today, Steve Angello released a big one. The former member of Swedish House Mafia, released a teaser video for something called #DECADE. But no one knows what it is. In the press release there was no information. And in the video of Steve Angello, it shows black and white images of him performing. Could #DECADE be a new Steve Angello performance during Miami Music Week? All we know is that it is happening March 27 and is sponsored by Kanon Organic Vodka. What do you think Steve Angello has up his sleeve?
