      Jose James – “EveryLittleThing”
      Posted: 14 Apr 2014 01:53 PM PDT
José James is back with a brand new single “EveryLittleThing” off his forthcoming album While You Were Sleeping. “EveryLittleThing” has a definitive rock vibe to it which is a noticeable contrast to the jazz/soul music he’s done in the past. But Jose has grown on every album and found a way to incorporate all his influences and still make it uniquely personal. I’m certainly hearing some Nirvana influence on the new single and it sounds really good. According to NPR; “This new record shows his love for the soulful and electronic-based James Blake, Frank Ocean and bands that James says were influences in his youth: Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead and many late nights in East London Clubs hearing electronic music.” Jose’s new album While You Were Sleeping is set to drop June 10th on Bluenote Records. You can pre-order it here.
José James has a short US. tour that begins April 15 at World Café, and another in June. His tour dates are below:
April 15 – World Café Live – Philadelphia, Pa.
      April 17-18 – Scullers – Boston, Mass.
April 20 – Evanston SPACE – Chicago, Ill.
April 21 – Cedar Cultural Center – Minneapolis, Minn.
      April 22-23 – Dazzle – Denver, Colo.
April 24 – The Triple Door – Seattle, Wash
April 25 – Alberta Rose Theatre – Portland, Ore.
April 26 – The Independent – San Francisco, Calif.
      June 12 – Highline Ballroom – New York, N.Y.
June 15 – Playboy Jazz Festival @ Hollywood Bowl – Los Angeles, Calif.
June 20 – Magoffin Auditorium – El Paso, Texas
June 21 – Charline McCombs Empire Theatre – San Antonio, Texas
June 22 – Empire Control Room – Austin, Texas
      June 26 – The Pour House – Raleigh, N.C.

In a new instrumental series, IAMNOBODI will showcase the many different places from around the world that fuel his fire behind the boards. GlassnoteGfinal Childish Gambino Is Very Unhappy With His Record Label
Just hours after the release of his innovative and creative video for “Sweatpants”, hip-hop artist Childish Gambino took to Twitter to express severe anger and frustration towards his record label, Glassnote Records. Gambino signed with the independent label – which was founded by Daniel Glass in 2007 and boasts a distribution deal with Universal – before the release of his debut album, Camp, in Sep. 2011.
In summary, Gambino feels that his label grossly mishandled the unveiling of the visuals for “Sweatpants” and Gambino’s blog and is asking to be released from any and all contractual obligations with the Glassnote. Read Glover’s tweets below.

1386696407CHILDISH GAMBINO BECAUSE THE INTERNET Childish Gambino Sweatpants F. Problem [Video]
Childish Gambino kindly welcomes you into his sans-sanity nightmare with today’s release of the visuals for “Sweatpants”, a standout single from Glover’s gripping sophomore album Because The Internet. The surreal and existential layers of the video gradually unwind as the convecting, bubbling backdrop hurries forward; Gambino’s pacing increases as the visuals continuously loop, each playback bringing into the frame another carbon copy of the thoughtful artist.
The frightening series of events unfolds in a large diner; Gambino leaves to check his phone (an inclusion that undoubtedly serves as some ode to his album’s title and all that it encompasses) and returns to find his face atop the bodies of friends, waitresses and other customers. The subtle calmness in which these transformations occur only adds to the uncomfortable atmosphere, which later shifts to the tracks outro – a smooth, melancholy segment that finds Glover crooning as characters dance around an illuminated tree.

Last week saw the release of SZA‘s highly anticipated TDE debut, Z. Since that time, fans have become more familiar with the material found on the album, which is pretty damn impressive. What was particularly exciting about Z was that the album was unlike anything else we’ve heard from collective thus far. With that, though, it didn’t stray far from the successful model TDE has set forth for their artist, as SZA was able to employ a selection of labelmates for collaboration.
Like Isaiah Rashad, who came through with a well-executed appearance on album standout “Warm Winds”. Today the track gets suited with a set of visuals, which are set in the meadows with some lo-fi filters. Exactly what you’d expect from SZA and the beautifully composed “Warm Winds”.
Watch the video above. Z is out now.

Last week we directed your attention to Atmosphere’s gritty new single, “Kanye West”. The title of the track turned a few heads, but it was ultimately the audio that sealed the deal for these Minnesota representatives. Today we are served with the accompanying visuals, which follow a devious couple through a crime spree. It’s a compelling take on the left-of-center track, and it keeps us excited for what’s to come from Atmosphere’s forthcoming Southsiders LP.
Watch the video above. Southsiders is set to drop May 6 via Rhymesayers.

kelisfood Stream Kelis Food LP In Its Entirety
When we first heard Kelis was teaming up with Ninja Tune to drop her sixth studio album, we weren’t exactly sure what to expect. Working with David Sitek, it became apparent that Kelis was taking her career more serious than ever with Food, and perhaps it was signs of a maturation in sound direction. After getting our hands on a few singles, it was clear Kelis had a new lease on her career, and she was going to take things to the next level by employing a more organic sound.
Today we get the chance to stream the entirety of her new LP, Food. Personally, I have yet to jump into this project in full. What I do know, though, is that expectations are high. Give it a spin and be sure to come back here to let us know what you think.
      Stream the album on NPR.

Molten to the core and maliciously magmatic is Ibn Inglor in the sequel to New Wave, his web-acclaimed free album that quickly secured itself a spot on my list of favorite projects of 2013. The fiery flamethrower of an artist debuted his followup attempt, New Wave 2, via The Fader just six short months after the original’s inception to a positive reception yesterday.
While much of his angst and jaded perception of his surroundings (and internal emotions) remain, Inglor attempts to craft here a a cohesive soundscape that sounds more atmospheric and futuristic in comparison to that of the tape’s predecessor. The creative move yields several notable successes (such as the previously released single “Chambers”) and some forgettable missteps (“Gosh”, a song in which Ibn refers to the original New Wave as “shit”).
I currently must say that I enjoyed New Wave more than New Wave 2, but I’m looking forward to replaying this a bit and urge you to dive in. Stream New Wave 2 below.
