Next year, New York City’s stalwart Electric Zoo festival is set to shake things up. Festival organizers have now made plans official to bring ‘Electric Zoo: Transformed’ to the familiar stomping grounds of Randall’s Island on Labor Day weekend, September 4-6, 2015. The impending ‘transformation’ sees Made Event collaborating with international dance music powerhouse ID&T, the force behind events like Mysteryland, Sensation, Tomorrowland, Q-dance and TomorrowWorld.
The next evolution of Electric Zoo will feature the spectacular production ID&T is renowned for, accompanied by what’s sure to be another genre-crossing line-up. In 2014, the likes of Armin van Buuren, Dada Life, Knife Party and Zedd led the dual main stages, before severe weather got in the way of the Sunday finale. Elsewhere around the grounds, the Sunday School Grove hosted an elite cast of house and techno luminaries (not to mention the ‘Vinyl Only’ stage), alongside sets from Madeon, Destroid, Sub Focus and more at the Hilltop Arena.
Tickets for Electric Zoo: Transformed will go on sale January 14, 2015 exclusively for MasterCard holders and January 15, 2015 to the general public. You can sign up now for exclusive pre-sale at the festival’s website. Still need convincing? Scroll down to watch last year’s stirring after-movie, which features EDX’s “Breathin'” as the soundtrack.

French electronic trio dOP have always shown a great sense of adventure and musical exploration in their studio work. Back in 2006, childhood friends Damien Vandesande, Clément Aichelbaum and Jonathan Illel dabbled in everything from hip-hop to rock before settling—and finding success—in the dance scene with a string of well-received EPs on various labels. In 2010, their debut LP, Greatest Hits, further raised their profile, and their current live show has been championed as a Top Live Act by the Resident Advisor community for three years running.

On January 3, 2015, one of the world’s most renowned night clubs, Trouw, closes its doors for good. Opened in 2009, this former newspaper printing facility, situated in east Amsterdam, has been a haven for some of the best DJs and dance fans in the world.
As the dance world awaits the club’s impending closure, Trouw (a Dutch word meaning “allegiance”) residents and regulars like Marcel Dettmann, DVS1, Serge, Tom Trago and Leon Vynehall have captured the club’s essence by hand-picking some their most beloved Trouw anthems accompanied by personal commentary. Twenty-two in all, check out standout moments from Thomas Bangalter, Theo Parrish, Henrik Schwarz, and many more. It’s a fitting musical tribute to those who played, worked and danced together within this world-class space.
Check out the full Trouw tribute playlist here.
And hey, if you’re looking for somewhere to throw down for NYE, why not close out Trouw?

After 30 years in the DJ game, Carl Cox has lost none of his fire. From his early days perfecting the art of playing on three turntables, the UK legend keeps evolving his set-up – which brings him to the Traktor Kontrol S8 in 2014.
Traktor’s manufacturer Native Instruments has shared a video of Cox incorporating the Kontrol S8 into his DJ booth, which you can watch below. The footage was shot around Cox’s recent tour of Australia with the Stereosonic festival, where he headlined the Awakenings arena alongside Nina Kraviz, Tale Of Us, Hot Since 82, MK and more. “I know I can mix two records together very well; that’s what I grew up doing,” the Intec boss says. “I want to know what I can create outside of that box. I want to know how far I can push the elements of being a creative DJ, today.”
As he tells it, the Traktor Kontrol S8 affords him new possibilities for DJing. “It’s one unit to do one thing, and for me, that’s brilliant,” Cox enthuses. “I can just concentrate on exactly what I need to do and how I need to do it. Instead of keeping looking at the computer all the time, I can just look at the desk real quick to find what I need and make that work.” Check it out below.
