De La Soul to give away whole discography for free

All kinds of anniversaries are being celebrated this year in the hip-hop world, but this one’s a bit different.
Instead of creating an elaborate box set for the 25th anniversary of their classic 1989 debut 3 Feet High and Rising, Golden Age stars De La Soul have taken the unprecedented step of making their entire catalogue free to download for only 25 hours, starting from today at 11am EST until Saturday at noon over on their official website. According to Posdnuous: "It's about allowing our fans who have been looking and trying to get a hold of our music to have access to it… Its been too long where our fans haven't had access to everything. This is our way of showing them how much we love them."And if this wasn’t enough, they will continue to release new songs in the run-up to new album You're Welcome, which is slated to arrive before the summer, as well as an EP split featuring beats by DJ Premier and Pete Rock, Preemium Soul on the Rocks.  |
