Just because Father's Day here in Cologne is only another occasion for hanging with your buds on the street, getting fucked up somewhere and vomiting in front of your door doesn't mean to do the exact opposite: listening to Kaito (preferably with your son).

Let's pop the corks, 'cos another new label joins our ranks: knowing damn well that being based in Cologne is like catnip for our distribution wing, long-serving local DJ hotheads Shumi and Marc Lansley aka Truffle Shuffle launch their very own label Low Hanging Fruit (actually located in both Cologne and Chicago, for realz). The outlet's first release - expected on vinyl in January 2014 - comes in form of the "National Geographic EP" from Cologne gearheadz Camp Inc.  - acclaimed crazies Roland Wilhelm Kaiser and Sebastian Ingenhoff, founders of infamous tape label Camp Magnetics. Revered by local crowds, but feared by club technicians, their live set consists exclusively of hand-cranked hardware equipment spitting out wild acid basslines, kicking synths and mad love. Their very first EP also features an impressively idiosyncratic remix hailing from fellow Cologne iconoclasts Von Spar who create an alternate universe where the common laws of physics don't seem to apply - kosmische noise disco where it's at. Watch the video here, and don't forget to check out the EP preview on soundcloud. No fillers, all killers!

There's a new label in town and we love it: run by Jan and Steffen Bennemann (plus a whole bunch of associates), the affably titled Holger outlet makes its debut with the "Trentaseitrenta" EP from Italian duo Margot. Bravely merging free-spirited kraut soundsculpting with pop-infused techno, the EP's four tracks manage to astonish and thrill its listeners with their leftfield congeniality. There's a (German) interview with the label heads on the FrohFroh blog - read it here. Highly recommended!

When Axel Willner came up with plans for a new The Field album, he was pretty adamant about not going through the same promotional treadmill that he had been with his critically lauded third longplayer "Looping State Of Mind". The long touring put a strain on him, as did everyday's life: "just the normal personal drama that everyone has in their lives. Nothing bigger than that. But (those emotions) can really fuck you over from time to time." All the more awesome then, that XLR8R was able to lure the volatile producer in front of their recording devices for an intimate interview about "Cupid's Head", the new full-length released just a few days ago. The result is a highly interesting read, with the Swedish master of the artful fringe loop allowing a rare close-up of his mindset and his workflow - check it out here!

Japanese producer Kaito recently recorded a podcast for Bodytonic, which you can stream or download here. During the hour-long set, Kaito guides us through music connected with his Kompakt cohorts, including tracks from Jürgen Paape, Kölsch, John Tejada and Coma. At the very tail end you also find the title track of his latest "Behind My Life" EP.
