FKA twigs: "Papi Pacify" Posted: 16 Sep 2013 07:10 AM PDT     By its very nature, clarification is an act of contraction, an infinite number of possibilities collapsed into one. When all other potential outcomes crumble into dust, there's always a chance that the one left standing might not be the one you were hoping for. On "Papi Pacify", one of the four tracks from FKA twigs' EP2 (out tomorrow, September 17, via Young Turks), she longs for clarification from a lover whose commitment may not be built on a foundation as solid as hers, unafraid of the fallout because damnit she just can't go on any longer without knowing. With producer Arca's help, the track throbs like an open wound, its narcotic churn threatening to suffocate as FKA twigs does her best to stay above water. "Tell me you're one that I can call, even if you choke," she sings, and the sentiment-- like much of her music thus far-- straddles the often blurry line between desire and obsession.

FKA twigs: "Water Me" Posted: 01 Aug 2013 11:02 AM PDT Photo by Jamie-James Medina The first single from FKA twigs' forthcoming EP2 (out September 9 via Young Turks) is a sparse and rickety ethereal ballad with a build that's not for the impatient. The ambiance on "Water Me" is glitchy and meditative, but the lyrics ("He won't make love to me now/ I guess I'm stuck with me") itemize a very corporeal vulnerability that unfolds over robotic and blippy creaks, atonal keys, and ambient synth. "Water Me" is gorgeous in a doleful way, and producer Arca (best known for his work on Kanye West's Yeezus) lends a heady and cavernous vibe to the proceedings-- but FKA twigs' gently-measured earnestness makes the vastness feel intimate.

FKA twigs – Water Me Posted: 01 Aug 2013 08:19 AM PDT If you’ve watched any of twigs’ videos for 2012′s self-released EP1 (or follow her on Instagram – if you don’t do that now) you’ll know that she’s consistently pairing her spectral sound with equally WOW visuals. This new cut is no exception. Sad, glitchy and fascinating, just like the digital tear of Jesse Kanda’s clip, Kanye producer and NYC UNO’s Arca plays it minimal and disorientating while Twigs (who also produces and is now renamed as FKA twigs) shows off that room-silencing voice with lines like “I told him water me” . Download ‘Water Me’ from iTunes from midnight. It features on the forthcoming ‘EP2′, out 9th September via Young Turks.
