Featuring performances from Kara-Lis Coverdale, Cucina Povera, Shygirl and more.
Berlin-based multi-disciplinary art platform Creamcake has announced a new concert series, Paradise Found. The series spans three separate dates (June 7, July 27 and August 17), each with three acts and three different headliners, including Kara-Lis Coverdale, Bendik Giske and Dorian Electra. Each concert will take place in the ruins of a medieval Franciscan monastery in the centre of Berlin. According to Creamcake, Paradise Found “responds to the extreme conditions of our current Age of Acceleration with a simple, though radical proposition—of nurturing talent and allowing it to develop at its own pace.” Each event will also feature installations on the themes of velocity and deceleration, concentration and contemplation and noise and silence. Paradise Found is part of Playground – for accepting your mortality, an artwork by Katrīna Neiburga and Andris Eglītis. For more information, check out the Facebook event. Check out the full Paradise Found program below. Half drone, half synth.
Gamechanger Audio has launched an Indiegogo campaign for its latest piece of unconventional music hardware, a synth that uses eight electromotors to generate sound. Motor Synth, which was one of the most talked-about instruments of this year’s Superbooth expo in Berlin, uses the same type of motors that keep small drones in the air, boasts what the company says is an “industrial-sounding, over-the-top analogue tone”. Each motor fills the same kind of role as an oscillator would in a traditional synth, so Motor Synth is capable of four-voice polyphony with two voices per key played. The synth also has the kind of features you’d expect from a conventional synthesizer, such as envelopes, filters, arpeggiation, modulation, LFO and on-board sequencing. Gamchanger Audio is taking the crowdfunding route for Motor Synth with an Indiegogo campaign, open for 30 days. Early birds can get the device for $749 to $949, increasing to $1,299 for anyone who purchases it when it goes on general sale “around December 2019”. As always, discretion is advised when backing crowdfunding campaigns, but Gamechanger Audio has a good track record in this field – last year it launched its striking Plasma Pedal after a successful campaign on Indiegogo. Listen to a new track, ‘Sem Gente’, now.
Ondness, one of the many musical aliases of producer Bruno Silva (Sabre, Serpente), arrives on Lisbon’s Holuzam with a new mixtape. Not Really Now Not Any More focuses on “the idea that we are constantly floating around unfinished ideas”, featuring 10 soundscapes that seem to be in a constant state of construction. Listen to a new track, ‘Sem Gente’, now. The tape takes its title from a piece of graffiti spotted by fantasy novelist Alan Garner that became a central influence on his book Red Shift, as well as Mark Fisher’s book The Weird And The Eerie. Last year José Moura, Márcio Matos and André Santos inaugurated the Holuzam imprint with the release of Telectu’s Belzebu and DWART’s Taipei Disco. A tribute to the LA-based artist’s late father.
IDM veteran Datach'i will return to Venetian Snares' Timesig label (a sublabel of Planet Mu) with a new album on July 27. Bones is Joseph Fraioli’s second for the imprint after 2016’s System, and was once again recorded with the LA-based artist’s custom-built Eurorack modular system. The album was recorded shortly after the death of Fraioli’s father, who partially inspired the sound of the record. “Whilst he was sick with cancer I bought him a guitar as he wanted to learn how to play, just to have something to do while he was getting treated," Fraioli explains. "After he passed away my mother gave me the guitar to have as a sort of memory of him. I had the idea to record some sounds and music on the guitar and load it onto granular sample players on the modular synth so I could make new music from those sounds as a sort of tribute to my dad.” Bones will be available on vinyl, CD and digital formats, and the first 500 people to pre-order the record from Bandcamp will receive a 19-track bonus CD. Fraioli is also giving away the same type of Tiptop Audio One module together with a datacard with the samples he used on the album with one randomly selected pre-order. Listen to ‘Rockledge 3A below’. Tracklist: 01. ‘Akemies’ 02. ‘Rhys’ 03. ‘Motion In The Living Room’ 04. ‘Rockledge 3A’ 05. ‘Saiph’ 06. ‘Antumalal’ 07. ‘Undimension’ 08. ‘Drone Maze’ 09. ‘Wand’ 10. ‘4X1’ 11. ‘Saugerties Road’ 12. ‘Arrivals’ Read next: Richie Hawtin on his origins as F.U.S.E. and how he made techno in the early '90s The post Datach’i returns to Venetian Snares’ Timesig label with new album, Bones appeared first on FACT Magazine: Music News, New Music.. |

Ableton has released Live 10.1. Ableton’s first major update to Live 10 arrives 15 months after its initial release, adding a number of requested features such as user wavetables for its new Wavetable instrument and fresh automation features.
