The Australian electronic outfit, The Avalanches, have had plenty of time to craft a follow up album to their critically acclaimed Freshmen LP, “Since I Left You.” With rumors circulating in the press dating back to 2011 regarding their Sophomore production, it’s about time some music is finally starting to surface. With members coming and going in the 16 years that have elapsed since their first crack at it, it’s peculiar to see the group transition to a more hip-hop oriented vibe after the overtly house oriented, “Since I Left You.” Check out the visual treatment for the MF DOOM and Danny Brown single, “Frankie Sinatra,” and peep the vinyl preview via XL Recordings below! My Playlist: Tegan and Sara share their favourite music

You won't want to miss this week's My Playlist, if only for its shear fun factor! Twin sisters Tegan and Sara Quin, take turns introducing their favourite tracks and telling great stories about their choices. And yes, they sometimes finish one another's sentences!

It’s been more than twenty years since Tegan and Sara won a local college Battle of the Bands contest, when they were teenagers. Since then, their music has morphed from indie pop rock with lots of guitar, to party-charged electro dance pop with beats and bass and full-on synths. 

But it still has what it’s always had, and that’s heart, authenticity and great hooks. It's also what you expect from their playlist picks with tracks by Grimes, Alessia Cara, Jessy Lanza, Rostam, Vanbot and Drake to name a few.

Tegan and Sara’s latest album, their eighth, is called Love you to Death.

Whether you went to a festival or not over Memorial Day Weekend, chances are you’re probably starting to get the itch to get back on the dance floor. This Saturday, Sound Nightclub will be welcoming the French Express/Ministry of Sound affiliate, Chris Malinchak, RIS Labs’ Eric Sharp, and our DJ duo, The Interns, for a groove-fueled soirée in the heart of Hollywood.

For those unfamiliar, Chris Malinchak is best known for his blissful deep house anthem, “So Good To Me,” but he’s also gone on to release a grip of other well-received jams like “Happiness” featuring MNEK, which has surpassed the 1 million play mark on SoundCloud. On closing duties, LA local Eric Sharp has been building his profile as both a producer and label head with sophisticated house music taste, while also playing everywhere from Outside Lands to ADE, so be sure to stick around for his set. Lastly, The Interns, who you may know from their eclectic sets at Coachella, Holy Ship!, EDC Las Vegas, or WAVEY, will be warming things up with the feel-good vibes that they have built their name off of.

Björk carries something of the Bowie gene: more stardust, rainbow particles and creative genius than flesh and bone. She is a youthful 50 – ageless as she is timeless – and with her high-pitched voice, irrepressible enthusiasm and unconventional sartorial choices, it’s hard to remember a time when the Icelandic singer didn’t stake a claim on the musical landscape.

Few among those musical stars that came of age in the 90s have evolved in such complex and interesting ways, carrying their old fans into the future and picking up a whole heap of new ones along the way. A clue to her evolution may lie in her unusual collaborations with designers, scientists, software developers, composers, instrument makers, app makers and film directors.
