Radiohead stoke anticipation with PolyFauna app update

Group have added strange new visuals and sounds to their seven-month-old tablet and smartphone app, which is no longer just a companion to 2011s The King of Limbs

Radiohead have updated PolyFauna, their seven-month-old tablet and smartphone app, with an array of new visuals and atmospheric sounds. The surprise upgrade means that PolyFauna is no longer just a companion to 2011s The King of Limbs: it has its own original music, including unreleased vocals by Yorke.

Yorke began teasing the Polyfauna update toward the end of August, tweeting images and sketches for the app. More drawings and paintings have also appeared at What Have You Done To My Face, his Tumblr with artist Stanley Donwood.

The playlist new bands: Salt Cathedral, Mother, Kamp! and more

A super supergroup, Charli XCXs sometime drummer gone solo and a Polish trio obsessed with 80s Manchester and Ibiza

Salt Cathedral are a Brooklyn-based duo comprising Nicolas Losada and Juliana Ronderos, both of whom originally hail from Bogota, Colombia. Previously in a band called Il Abanico, their debut EP is titled Oom Velt, which apparently means the world as it is experienced by a particular organism, a partially phonetic spelling of the German phrase. But who cares about inaccessible nomenclature and their history as a maths rock band utilising complex guitar work and stabbing percussion structures now that theyve grown into purveyors of breezy electronic pop with lightly tropical rhythms and deathlessly pretty vocals? File next to Purity Ring.

100 Word Review: JariBu Afroeat Arkestra - JariBu

Label: SoulGarden Records/Tramp

Released: June 2014

JariBu Afrobeat Arkestra has been through a few member changes since 2012’s No More Patient, but what remains unchanged is the band’s unflinching commitment to Fela-inspired afrobeat grooves. What sets their music apart from other neo-afrobeat acts is the heavy basslines and the addition of flute to the horn section. As well as building up a solid live following in Japan, their music has also gain plaudits overseas. JariBu sees the band on top form with ten great new tunes including Devil Pts 1 & 2, Wild Pansy, One By One, Unrevealed Truth and Bomb. Possibly their best yet. Recommended.

Tricky Adrian Thaws: Exclusive album stream

Have a listen to the Bristol mavericks eleventh album, one week ahead of its release, and let us know your thoughts

Does the title of Trickys eleventh album which takes his birth name suggest a more personal direction? According to the Bristol maverick, its more a cheeky statement regarding how difficult his genre-leaping music is to pin down.

Calling it Adrian Thaws is saying you dont really know me, he explains. So many times people have tried to put a finger on me and every album I go to a different place.

Following warnings of extreme weather conditions, the EDM event in New York was cut short this weekend

For the second year in the row, New Yorks Electric Zoo music festival has been forced to abandon its final day. Whereas last years Sunday programming was cancelled after two drug-related deaths, this past weekends festivities were cut short by extreme weather conditions.

Late on Sunday afternoon, organisers announced that Electric Zoo would be shut[ting] down for the remainder of the festival. We apologize to fans, but your safety is our main concern, they tweeted. Although hundreds of people had to be evacuated by ferry, no incidents were reported.
