HELP RAISE £15,000 TO CHANGE THE LIVES OF 25 OF LONDON'S HOMELESS THIS SPRING TEXT ‘JOHN20 £5′ TO 70070 WATCH THE FILM hosb.org.uk On 31 March 2014, Our homies at the House of St Barnabas, a homeless charity and the first not-for-profit private members club, will launch its first ever digital campaign to raise vital funds needed to run their Employment Academy, supporting those who have been affected by homelessness or social exclusion get back into work. It costs the charity £3,000 per participant to attend the Employment Academy, complete its training and mentoring programme. Today, the House of St Barnabas is asking 15,000 people to give just £5, which would enable another 25 people to attend the Academy and help them to transform their lives. In Spring 2013, acclaimed Scottish actor Brian Cox (currently starring in The Weir in London's west end) visited The House of St Barnabas and filmed an interview with one of the charity's success stories, John Smallshaw. John is a former heroin addict who had been homeless on and off for 40 years. The film follows John from Academy graduate to one of the club's employees. The House of St Barnabas operates a unique charitable model, running a not-for-profit private members' club from its Grade I listed home in the centre of Soho. The charity integrates an Employment Academy into the heart of the club, providing work experience and training for those affected by homelessness. The membership is a diverse mix of entrepreneurs, social innovators and creatives. Our goal is to work together to close the gap on social and cultural exclusion.
